Side note: got to do something with the van we never felt we could in the truck. Just pull off the road and go to bed after midnight. Drove to our favorite river and instead of stopping halfway, powerhouses it all the way. Was the right call.

Unfortunately not Wyoming. I was contacted by the Forest Service in Laramie to interview for a job, but I had already accepted a job offer in Wenatchee, WA . We will be moving mid-late October, but we might have to hunker down through the winter if we can’t close on this new home.

Really bummed to leave Idaho and our property. I really loved hiding out and being in such a rural area. The rivers out here are hard to compete with. That said, I am very excited to be at the juncture of a forest and shrub-steppe ecosystems again. That is something that I really missed about Wyoming. That, and not having 20 acres to try to manage…maybe I’ll finally have some time and money for a hobby that isn’t cutting, splitting and stacking firewood .

The kid is doing great! She is up and running, learning things at an alarming rate, and just seems to be enjoying everything life has to offer. She has turned into a little social butterfly…not sure where she got that!

can't imagine 20 acres of forested stuff like that. Gotta be a ton of work. my 10 acres with just grass is just fine! haha Still need to get some kind of tractor or skidsteer at some point. But wow $$$$.

Welcome to Wa. Wenatchee seems like a nice place. True 4 seasons but not too harsh of a winter or summer.

There's more nuanced to it. Oregon go slow in any lane. Idaho is go slow on two lanes and don't use turnouts. Washington, is as I described.

 

If the reference is to the interstate (2-lanes), fast lane is typically 85-90 these days and the slow lane (mine) is 70 with occasionally having to dodge the 65er (semis and asian females ). I cannot imagine driving at 62 mph on i90.

 

Most of it we left untouched, but the fire mitigation on ~3 acres took a lot of time/effort. That and keeping up with weeds.

The new place will be in town on .57 acres. Nice view and a spot for a shop once we sell our Idaho properties (one car garage life until that happens ). It should be just enough space to not feel like we are losing the things we loved the most about our place in Idaho.

I bet I end up finding a way to spend all my time managing that tiny property, but my goal is to not do that.

We’d love to see you if you find yourself in the area…or just want to visit. I’ve visited Wenatchee twice now and have enjoyed it both times. Really enjoyed my work trip visiting Leavenworth and the Forest. Good views, delicious food, and ample outdoor rec opportunities…hard to hate it. I’ll be there for at least 4 years. I wouldn’t mind finding a forever home but I bet I’ll be moving to another state shortly after year 4 haha.

Looks like I am just keeping a solid 3hr buffer from you haha.

I’m going to start driving Baby T more often and she really likes 55mph …

Seems like the whole off-road industry is overly susceptible to fly by night shysters and poor business operations/communications

 

yeah, well it always seems easy to just make something then try and make it for others.

 

I think people have cool ideas, and no idea how to run a business.

The signs have been pretty clear with Vagabond for a while now. Guessing deposits were used to fund current builds, and probably the owner's pay. Once word was out that they were 3 years out, and orders stopped coming in, it fell apart.
