I'll be joining the lifted club soon. Planning on a 3" front / 2" rear leveling kit to get a little higher ride height and eliminate the front end rake, along with 1.25" spacers to improve the stance.

I'm currently running the 16" TRD Offroad wheels with 265/70/16 tires; what's the biggest tire size I should consider with this set-up?

 

Depending on the backspace of the wheels, i would say 265-75-16. You could go up a size after that, but unless you regear, you may not like the sluggishness and the cost at the pumps. I went 285-75-16 with 4" backspace and fiberglass fenders to clear on Donahoe coilovers cranked up and Deaver j59 leaf springs in back. That was so long ago i don't know if I have any pics.

HD OME kit, 1.5 in the front w the 881 springs and 2.5 out back w the Dakar pack, but I’m expecting some settling. The new 265/75/16s arent much bigger than stock but definitely happier w the AT tread vs HT

 

Good day to all of you. I just replaced the original (230k miles) shocks on my 98 limited TRD with Bilsteins 5100. I seldom ride on anything rougher than gravel roads with some mud and snow. During the installation I noticed a note indicating that the rear should be lifted 1" to 1.5". I was told by Bilstein that this is needed because of travel specs of the rear shocks and if not done the shocks will bottom out and get damaged. I installed a 1" lift block. The problem with this is that now the e-brake cable now rubs on top of the leaf springs. Because of the e-brake actuating lever position the cable can not be re-routed. Any suggestions to remedy this will be appreciated. I will upload pictures if I can figure how to do it

 

I forgot: I took the lift blocks out.

 

Back in the day we made BPV brackets with rear lifts. You can see archived pics on sites like TTORA and customtacos.com. Those are the OG hacks. Not sure if they still do them. Mine worked great at keeping the brake line off the leaf springs.

 

Use longer shackles instead of blocks.
