Can't go wrong with either color really. Black would look good with some custom graphics to match the teal bike or the red would stand out nicely against the teal.

You don’t know the half of it . The Marin went in for a warranty repair and I grabbed a Rocky Mountain Growler to ride in the interim (which is a great bike). Almost nothing on that Marin is stock anymore and the Growler is on the upgrade path as well. Hell of a lot cheaper than when I had multiple motorcycles though

Hi everyone, I'm new both to TW and truck/Taco life. I did some searching and reading through this thread but haven't seen a direct answer to my question, so apologies in advance if I just failed at search terms:

I'm wondering if there is a good tonneau cover option that can fully close while accommodating the Raceface T2 tailgate pad on a 6' bed. Ideally, I'd be able to keep the pad on 7-8 months of the year (non-winter) here in Tahoe and still be able to somewhat secure the bed. I often need to be able to transport 1-5 bikes on short notice.

IMG_1745.png Tried to get one of these the other night online. However, a member of the bike shop’s sales team eventually sent me an email saying they had to cancel my order and do a refund because of incorrect pricing. Lol almost got about a $3.6k discount. Anyways, not sure if that is even a good bike to get…

A battery powers it, so there is that. ;)

Is it really considered a bike at that point?

Do you know if this is the case for most tonneau covers and tailgate pads?

Nope, I don't know. There are covers that slide or roll and lock into place. That would probably work with a tailgate pad

Does anyone run a roof bike rack? If so is it a pain to mount and unmount your bikes?

I do on my car, I’d never want to have to unload a bike off the top of the Tacoma or an SUV roof. If you use bed rails with a roof top rack on them that wouldn’t be too bad though.

Long time ago and yes, more of a pain than a hitch rack for sure. It’s also inevitable that you’ll drive your bike into something at some point. Like a rite of passage for owning a roof rack. And nothing like a dirty bike on the roof driving through rain.

Maybe more feasible as an occasional option if you’re also towing a camper or receiver hitch is otherwise occupied but kinda sucks for daily use.

It blows. Unless you're as tall and strong as Bigfoot, and are loading kid bikes. You'll scratch your roof, drop your bike, pull a back muscle, contaminate your brakes, get road grime blasted into bearings, and waste your money.
You have a truck, throw it in the back if you want to save $ on a rack, or get a Oneup tray (assuming you only need to transport a couple of bikes). I use to have a website with all the options available and their up/downsides. Don't waste your time and money.

It costs a little more, but I bought the roof racks from 1up USA, then bought the 2" double hitch assembly so I can move my racks to car or truck.
Back when I bought it before covid it was about $700.
