He's gotta dig down to the pitless adapter at the well head and who knows how far from the well head to the house.

Needs assessment if really necessary but the rubber hose must go

House was built in 1950. Good point - maybe its not original. I can pull the cover off at the well cap and explore further. The line is black in color and plastic in composition, and runs underground, which led me to poly but I imagine ABS is also an option.

No issues at the source, so really not looking to dig back to the well head. Its probably only 40 linear feet or so, but outside the scope of work. Plus the well head is in the garage... that's a whole 'nother story.

Yes, this is the primary focus. Don't think digging back to the well is necessary. Just want to shore where the supply enters the house and clean up the previous owners' hack jobs properly. There are plenty of them...

Thanks for the idea, but there won't be any copper at this junction. Regardless, I need to figure out how to transition from the poly/ABS/plastic supply line TO the interior plumbing, which will be PEX.

NOT a poly expert, so unsure there. But transitioning to threaded or sweat fitting surely has been done, then your elbow.

So many questions. Is there a "flex" reason they needed the rubber hose at that 90°?

I don't see a "good" reason for it. Laziness is probably the valid one.

I do think its strange that the supply line doesn't protrude from the wall on the interior side, so maybe it broke off during install, and was easier to slip a coupler over the line than a barbed fitting into it? :frusty:

Briefly looked into this when I did some PEX-A conversion downstairs and installed filters and softener. I believe a slip fitting like the one below was going to be the best option for me. I would then use a threaded adapter to go directly to PEX from the adapter. Just make sure to order the correct sizing and you should be set. I am also NOT an expert so if somebody in the field says don’t do this, listen to them haha.

Nice. Ours is from 2003 and we are just waiting for it to die. The current one is cream but, over the years, we have switched all the other appliances to stainless, like many have. If it ain't broke, it doesn't need fixing, especially with prices today.

Dishwashers aren't what they used to be, our house we just sold I put 3 dishwashers in it in 10 years, they were all name brand too. Each time was a different name brand and they all let me down.

I am starting to have a gripe with new Bosch dishwashers and soft water.

No matter the cycle, they clean REALLY well, are quiet, hold plenty - but the final rinse sucks. We have tried everything short of hard water. Rinse aids, citric acid, 4 different soaps now, a tiny amount of soap (like a teaspoon of liquid) etc yet there is ALWAYS some detectable soap on the plastic and glassware, which bubbles with fresh or RO water.

    Any ideas here folks?

I hear you. I have never owned a house, and not replaced or installed a new dishwasher. Last house of 16 years, the first one died, replacement died and finally a third one (Bosch) was still going when we sold.

This house the first one died 1.5 years in and now a Bosch

Our old house had the same problem, I think it was the water. We had a well but the water left spots on the vehicles when we washed them too.
