It would be a shame to split them up. This is a 2015 unit, kinda newish to start parting it out.

I just dropped it off at a buddy's. He has a 2 acre lot with muchore grass than I have.

I told him to try and break it.

Too bad we don't live closer, I have lots to mow -- and plenty of opportunities for failures it seems. :annoyed:

Need to dicide if I should pull the heads and install valve guide seals.

The unit smokes pretty bad at cold start up.

The smoke clears right up after rpms are increased.

It's a fairly common issue with the Command engines. The exhaust valve guide seals burn out as the engines age.

It's one of those things that bothers me, I hate having to explain to a customer why it smokes.

I hope to have a report if it used any oil tomorrow or Wednesday.

Got this new carb in, put it on yesterday and mowed for about 20-30 minutes and it started doing the exact same thing. Starving for fuel, had to choke it to get it back to the shop. What do you think it could be @koditten ? New Kohler fuel pump is still on the mower. I have an electric one I'm tempted to put on just to see if it is fuel.

What's the venting situation on the fuel tank?

I've unscrewed both caps and it didn't help, switched between tanks multiple times as well. I did have to replace the ignition switch a year or two ago, I'm wondering if maybe it's going bad.

If you're choking it (heh) and it will still run, then it sounds like you still have ignition. Might be a case of vapor lock?

That's what has me puzzled, you can choke it when it starts acting up and get it back to the shop. Both tanks are about 1/4 full, I'll fill one up and see if that helps anything. I'm about ready to shoot it :infantry:

Any chance the key switch voltage to the fuel shut off solinoid is dropping out?

    I'm just tossing darts here.

That little clunker JD I have did something similar, sometimes I could choke it to get back to the garage.

It turned out the coil had a crack in it.
That is the one a tree fell on...

Would be fun to nab this Ferris that's in the auction. I've looked at it a few times while at work and it looks pretty nice!

Looks like a decent rig. I'd grab it if it goes for a decent price.

See if you can find out what hydro pumps it used.

I like the units that have pumps separate from wheel motors. Much easier to work on.

The industry seems to be moving to the unified pump/motor systems.

Found a replacement engine for the generator. $700 down the drain.

Hopefully I can get it changed in the spring.

I am curious to do an autopsy on the bad engine.

We have a local Generator install company here. They sell replaced units/parts that were warrantied out by Generac.

It's quicker for them to just swap out an entire gen set, then they can sell the good parts after a waiting period.

This one had bad windings in the generator head, but the engine was fine.

At least it doesn't have hole in the block.
