@Kwikvette @eon_blue it's impossible for one parent to rase a kid and still have a full time job unless they have a lot of help from family.
We are fortunate Monica works from home. That being said it's still extremely stressful on her. If Olivia blowes up and she is in the middle of a meeting what is she supposed to do.
Obviously you take care of the kid but she still has obligations to work.
Nelson, you reminded me that I need to order coloring books for the season.

I don't get it. After we come home from work, we enjoy our hobbies, have dinner and unwind and it's time for bed. No idea how y'all do it.

I like your schedule, it's my schedule that's why haha. No idea how or why they do it either, just hope it isn't contagious.

I got "vaccinated" so I'm immune to it. To be diplomatic here I won't say much more, but freedom as an adult is fucking great.

Cause it's different, and an amazing experience.

Don't worry, I ain't ever gonna try and convince anyone to have kids cause I respect those not having them. I hate people that press on about that kind of shit.

But having my little dude has been amazing, and it's only gonna get better (and worse)

Old school parents are the worst, and that kind of pressure is put on the girls in the family more than anything.

Well you have to feel that way. If you don't have kids, you say you don't want kids, not a big deal. You have kids and say you don't want kids, you're a monster. The whole philosophy people try to use "once you have them you'll understand" is insane. Works for some, sure, but certainly not all. The look I get from my coworkers when I share my trips tells a lot. The look of I wish I could, for those people, you can see they feel they are missing out. Some people make it work with kids and it doesn't effect them as much for sure, but there is no one size fits all for the situation. That's my take at least. Will we wonder if we should have? Yeah that's a bridge we will cross some day. But for now, the thought of should we? Doesn't.

Yep, not to try and judge but plenty of people shouldn't have kids. One can only hope those that do, do their part to raise them to be good people. And carry on with what they've learned to succeed in life.

    Again, definitely not for everyone.

I always wanted them, but was with the wrong person to have them with before.

Sometimes one of the two people in a relationship can be a great fit to be a parent, but like James mentioned earlier...it's much better having two parents. Having a kid with the wrong person, even if you yourself would make a great parent, isn't enough.

And that shit just makes it so much harder on the child itself.

You and I agree on more things than you realize. We approach them from completely different angles but the big picture is there, otherwise we wouldn't get along so well.

There's a lot of thought that goes into not having kids like there does having them. For one the desire to has to be there. The other sacrifice, and that's one I would struggle with. Hell I'm doing an engine swap mostly because I have seen so many people do it and want to know what the experience is like. Would I sacrifice experiences easily? Another piece is to think about is personality, some of it is controllable, others less so. Do I think my personality would work? I know how I was raised and you know what they say about apples and trees. All that is to say I'm happy that we made a good decision, I don't fault others that choose different dang if people would stop pressuring young couples about that stuff. But damnit if it doesn't suck when your buddies can't go do shit cuz they have to do kid stuff lol

The pressuring from others is one that pisses me off; not that I ever got it cause fortunately I didn't. But seeing others struggle with it.

But also in the same manner about other things, how society expects you to be, act, dress, etc.

Having those talks with close friends, and hearing about their upbringing sometimes..it's sad man.

    Anyway I digress.

You'll knock out your engine swap in no time; my first one was a 7MGTE into my old Cressida in highschool.

I look forward to teaching the little guy to weld and do other shit I always thought was cool.

Few days late here but I'm a fan. I had one living in my garage window for a few weeks using the screen like a spider and catching flies.

I work 60+ hours a week, usually closer to or exceeding 70 hours -- now in finance -- and run several local side businesses. Most of the remaining time I have goes to my son. What I do have in free time is working on our cars/bikes, watching sports, and playing games (steam deck & gaming laptop helped a lot with giving me additional opportunity to do this). It takes a very strong woman by your side and a lot of patience. Also a lot of mental anguish and stress, lol.

Eh, it didn't really touch philosophy, maybe ideology.
