Where are the air bag deployment sensors located on a 2001?
In the past I've had the dash light on & had my mechanic clean the sensor(s) & it was fine for about 2 years. Now the light is on again.

He said the OEM part is expensive

There are two sensors in the front on each of the frame rails- below the battery and air filter. Everything associated with the SRS system is yellow. The SRS ecus are behind the dash below the radio. If you're going to do anything with the SRS system, please be safe and disconnect the battery and wait 10 minutes.

Additionally, I highly suggest finding a digital copy of the FSM for the 1st gen. It has the locations of the sensors and modules, and more importantly ACTUAL troubleshooting steps. SRS doesn't send codes to the ODBII, there is a procedure to jump some pins and read the flashing lights on the dash.

Again, those sensors on the frame rails are accelerometers. Just little yellow cubes.

    Ok, thank you

    Wouldn't do it myself
Just trying to understand how it all comes together

Truck spends more of its time off road at speeds of less than 50 mph
