    Met a guy at church last night and I ask what he did for a living, he's a field machinist for CAT. We got to talking and it sounds like he has a cool job :D

    New poll.

    I love my job but since moving, I may need to be switching soon to somewhere that pays more.

    I’ve always thought people who love their jobs are the luckiest people out there.

    Good luck with your upcoming decisions.

    Good morning shop crew! Hope it’s been a great week for you guys. I’ve been super busy with babysitting, bush hogging, more babysitting and a routine eye doc appointment. Got a few hours off this morning then back at it.

    Truck update time for you guys

    @Tacoma Mike

    If you remember, I had taken the truck to the dealership earlier this week for the Toyota mechanic to do a diagnostic inspection and confirm the master cylinder is leaking. There I explained the complaint I have filed with corporate and got to speak to the shop manager and the service Director who both said they would open up a case themselves to see if they could get this resolved.

    I heard back from them and good news, Toyota has agreed to make the repair on a 50-50 split since the truck is out of warranty. Not so good news, my half of the deal is still $1100 but definitely better than paying full price! I was expecting to have to pay a labor charge since it’s out of warranty, I was just hoping I could come in a little lower than this.

    The only part of it that really irked me is Toyota said the reason they will only go 50-50 is because they have not seen the truck for any service in 18 months. Eighteen months ago is when I had the 10,000 mile oil change, I’m just now at 19 K, which we all know is the next oil change interval. I did the 15K “inspection service” myself because I can do it in the driveway quicker than it takes me to drive to the dealership. With me doing it I know the tires WERE rotated, front prop shaft u-joints have been greased and I made sure the driver's floor mat was in the proper location and checked that the all important cabin air filter was clean :rolleyes:

    I have the truck back while waiting on the new master cylinder to get shipped to them, hopefully by Monday or Tuesday then we will get this wrapped up.

    Thanks for the update :hattip:

    Glad they’re putting up something but the rest of the stuff is bs. The Magnuson-Moss Act allows us to work on our own vehicles I believe (I probably should read it one of these days…)

    I hope the work done is exceptional and that’s the end of it for you.
