Could you please share what the 4” solid cover looks like? The stock hole is slightly larger than 4” and measures 4-1/8”. The stock hole also has a lip, so I’m also curious if it’s a flat plate or more like a flush button plug style.

It covers the 4” hole. It is bigger than the hole. It’s screwed in from the inside so the lip does not interfere.
Here is a picture of my latest design!

I don’t have access to a 3rd gen sadly. If you want, you can DM me some pictures of the cowl with the cover removed and we can see if it’s somewhat similar.

Does the HVAC cover kit also prevent (or greatly reduce) rain water overflow that might run down into the HVAC intake in certain situations?

So I have partially installed Kit 1.

    Overall: 8/10
    Print Quality: 9/10
    Parts: 10/10
    Instructions: 10/10
    Install Time: Approx. 2 hours

    TL:DR
Satisficed with the kit, minor issues. Looks beautiful and complete.
    No noise difference whatsoever.

The kit is well made and the 3D Prints fits perfectly. With a large enough Tolerances.
I am having a real reachability / accessibility issues, installing the side screens without a 90 degree drill was a nightmare. I had to sit inside the engine bay for me to see what I was doing.
It took me 3 hours to complete. If I had a 90 degree drill for the tight space this can all be completed in 2 hours.

But other than that, its a well made thought out kit. Nice quality aluminum and the nicely mesh screen inside it. The 90degree is nice and thicc, Instructions were very clear. (If you are installing the side screens do that first before anything else.)
The 3d Print as well made and nicely printed.
I had to OMIT the driver side mesh screen, as It was going to be a nightmare to drill in the self tappers without a 90 degree tool.
I ended up painting the TRD hole cover pink, it was the only color I had lying around.

    A few tips:
    • Use a Piece of tape when removing the windshield wipers. So you know where it needs to be aligned upon re-installing
    • Get a rounded file, so you can de-bur the holes you make. or a Dremel Kit.
    • Use a 90 Degree Drill for the Side Mesh Screens.
    • Have a piece of 2x4 to raise the hood up as high as possible.
    • On the HVAC intake Add some 1/2 foam between the sheet metal and the 3d print. So it wont sand itself off in a few years time.
    • The Side Screen Self Tappers - For our non-Canadian friends, you need a number 1 Robison bit. You may find this a bit alien. You can swap it out for a self taper of your choice.
    • Also, be prepared to lose those tiny washers. You WILL Lose them they are as small as a spec of rice.
I do have a few issues though:
    • Number 2 Alan key bolt. This is fine for the rear part, but for the front where it clamps onto the sheet metal, I would change it to a Bolt, Nut, and Lock Washer.
I stripped the head on one of them, and ripped the lower 3d print, as the bolt holes were very very tight and was catching the print and not the nut. So I have to drill out one piece, and have tiny vise grips to hold the bottom and undo it.
I Never have any luck with alan keys they always strip on me. Mabey Ream out the hole?
    • That being said, the lower part broke on me as mentioned above. A bit too weak, for honey comb pattern.

    • So for now its just rattling in the cowl.

I cannot see how rain can get into your HVAC system from stock. There are holes in the top of your cowl cover for the air to be pushed into your HVAC. This was engineered and design by Toyota so I am sure there won't be any issues. My HVAC hard cover and screen will most likely help you in a very little chance that rain can get in there.
Leaves get in your HVAC because they slip through those cowl cover holes and eventually land in the HVAC hole with turbulence. That is why I designed the screen.

Thanks for the feedback! As discussed in DMs, here are some fixes and some things I noticed:
    • The bottom attachment design will be updated and a new one will be sent to you. If the M3 little bolt does not slip through the HVAC screen and solid cover, please drill it out slightly prior to install. I will make sure the holes are big enough. You want the bolt to thread into the bottom attachment only.
    • Yes, a 90 degree drill (or attachment) makes the install much easier. You can always add adhesive tape to the back of the side meshes so you don't need to drill. Tape is not included.
    • Did you use a 3" hole for the extra side holes? I'm sure this will be fine but a 2" does not effect the other existing holes.
    • Your side meshes seem to be installed on the wrong side. There are little feet the stick out to compensate for the lips of the existing holes. I can tell because my logo is facing the wrong way lol. The way you have it will be just fine. It still gets the job done.
    • I do not think foam is needed. I think you just need to bend the metal lip up slightly so the HVAC screen sits flush. This will also stop any rattles.

    Keep in touch!

I love this idea, tempted to order, but when you get in torrential rain that area fills up, no one has has issues with water going into the intake?
