My stock alternator went out last week so I ordered a new Denso 150 amp alternator to replace it with. I have wires for a big 3 upgrade arriving next week. Would I be safe to run the 150 amp alternator on the stock wiring untill I get the upgraded wiring in?

A v6 truck starter regularly draws 150 - 175 amps. Should be good.

Unless you’re adding more load, you won’t be moving any more current than you did with the old alternator.

I don't know much about it, but my understanding is that this new alternator will be putting out almost double the amps at idle than the stock one. I'm just concerned about a fire yet I need a vehicle until the new wiring get in.

It probably can put out more, but unless there is some device on the truck that is consuming that extra current, it’ll be the same amount.

In any case it is fused for the size of the existing wire, so even if you could demand all that extra power and the wiring couldn’t handle it, the fuse would pop.
