Picking up a pickup tool box which I will modify for the log splitter to house the engine and hydraulic tank. Going to add some bracing and cut the portion that will cover the engine to allow it to flip open when in use.

After contacting every government organization that I needed to, none had any objections or concerns about my intended use of my property. So, I just mailed out my Conditional Use Permit application and the $500 fee. Yes, I had to pay $500 to ask permission to use my own property.
This will be to build a private campground with a 200'x200' clearing for a couple RV pads, a deck, a couple <200sqft buildings, and possibly an underground storage (depending on how deep and how much rock I find from the caldera).

Next meeting for reviewing applications is May 16th, so it is a little wait but not too bad.

Well crap. The tool box that was dropped off was not the one that I agreed to buy. Was suppose to be 48x20x17, but the one that got dropped off is 60x24x17. Would cost too much to make the 3hr trip to take it back. So, I will spend some time measuring, marking, and sectioning it take it fit. Since it will end up as a custom box, I am going to split the lid and add ventilation doors to allow me to only open half the box to cool the engine when the splitting is running.
Oh well, it was only $150.

Alrighty, Conditional Use Permit application has been submitted and check cleared. Hearing should be around the 16th of next month for adjacent property owners to submit their opinion and for me to counter any opposition.
County said I can do anything I want out there that does not require a permit as long as I don't stay beyond the allowed time frame without an approved CUP. I have an appointment to get another injection in my knee and get the cyst drained on the 4th. On the 8th, I will be hauling my trailer out to the property. On the 9th, my folks are going to bring my tractor out since they want to check out my property. After the CUP gets approved, I will bring my backhoe out along with some other materials.
I will probably have a gate, posts, and concrete hauled out with my tractor as well. My total planned clearing area is about 1.25 acres plus I will add a 100 meter shooting lane to the north of where I am going to have the clearing.
I am probably going to have to stop at the Redi-Mix concrete supplier as the guy never answers the phone or calls back.

I just landed a job building a cantilever gate. They are the only gates I'll ever have from now on.

    Thanks for the update.

I'm cheap, I'm going to install a farm gate. If I can find one that isn't close to new price, I'll get a used one. Otherwise I'll just grab one at home depot.
I found some synthetic RR ties, but the fuel cost is a bit prohibitive as it is a 4.5 hr round trip drive to where they are located.

I am really interested in your plan. I hope things go straight forward.

I'm always skeptical when local government is involved.

    Please keep updates coming.

When it comes to projects, I'm a strong mix of OCD and ADHD. Lots of plans and ideas bouncing around, but I get distracted easily.
Personally I think I should be able to do whatever I want and only pay road tax. The county provides no services out there other than the road. But that's not how it works. Thankfully, the county does provide a discount on property tax for service connected disability once I have it set up as an addressed residence. I am going to assign myself the title of "camp host" to make it so I can stay there year round in my trailer (or a bigger one if I decide to have more room) and claim it as a primary residence.

Maybe I'll work on my 2016 Winnebago Minnie Winnie roof area above the running lights. I have a darn roof leak. Building a scaffold so I can get up over the hood area and work on cleaning and resealing the seam that runs the width of the upper bunk. Can't really address it from the roof, first of all I am too damn heavy to be climbing on the roof, secondly the seam is at a downward slope. I can see myself doing a header with all the blood rushing to my head from leaning over for an extended period of time while working. Thirdly I am too damn old at almost age 70! Wish me luck!

Good luck. Might be beneficial to hire one if the local kids to do that, just make sure it is done right.

Waiting for the buck rivets to arrive for the access doors. Box has since been painted black.

Took the trailer to the DMV today and got an AIN for it. They wanted receipts for the material I used to build it and the axle. Told them I had no paperwork for the metal, wood, bolts, tires, coupler, wires, lights, fenders, or other stuff. Gave them an ebay receipt for the axle. Funny thing is, they didn't even check to make sure it was the axle on the receipt.
Anyways, it is officially a titled trailer.

I went ahead and stamped the AIN into the metal under where the splitter will sit, I am going to stamp it a few more times in random spots.

Installed electronic ignition and a Piranha tooth bar on the tractor.
Not going out to the property yet, having work done on my knee on the 1st of next month. Still having the CUP hearing next week, debating on making the 4.5 hour drive or just downloading Zoom and joining the meeting online.

Update. Conditional Use Permit has been approved. Conditions- no commercial use (as to not take business away from RV park 27 miles away), don't use garbage as building materials (like half the people out in that neck of the woods) as to not reduce property value of neighboring properties, and get any necessary building permits approved prior to building whatever needs approval.
Had one member abstain, she was the one who had concern about me making it a commercial park.

I'm good with those conditions, as they are reasonable. I have zero interest in commercial use. I can't stand the people who trash their properties (redneck Feng Shui or straight up garbage). Lastly, building permits are less of a hassle than having the county try to take my land for not paying a couple hundred bucks for permits, plus I get to make them drive way the heck out to no where to inspect it.

Edit: for some reason they could barely hear me on zoom, and only if I yelled. So the Q&A portion was very limited and faster than I could type responses to questions. So, the director pretty much answered all questioned given to me as I answered them in the Q&A section as they had the chat disabled.

On the camper, I painted the kitchen to get rid of the red. It suits it much better. Just need to put the trim back on. I also used some slotted sheet aluminum to make a grill for the service door.

On the splitter trailer, I am building a pair of angled tables to keep rounds from rolling off when split. Taking longer than I'd like because my welder is throwing a fit and will stop welding after only about 2", then I have to let it cool down. Time for a new one.

Decided to put a tongue box on to help get the balance better since the oil tank move to be back from the original plan of having it at the front opposite the engine. So, I cut the jack mount off and mounted a BAL jack.
Got all the plumbing done except the pickup hose as I forgot to get a couple hose clamps. I will go to napa tomorrow and get some. I do still need to order some hose wrap though.
Last picture shows how I did the engine oil drain and the bracket I made to hold the hydraulic filter.

All done. Splits wood well at just an idle, moves faster than the electric splitter too. Had some oak to try it on.

The Furrion entertainment console stopped playing dvds. So, I installed a brand new Pioneer. The damn thing only puts black and white signal to the TV.
WTF. I swear. If a seller has a defective item and I order that model, they will pick and choose the defective one 90% of the time. I am amazed with how often I receive defective items. And surprisingly, they also sent me the wrong player. It is equivalent, so I didn't care. If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all.

Made a foundation kit for a 10x8 shed I picked up. I'll be able to haul it out to my property and assemble it without having to make any cuts.
I hate how I got 2x4s from the same bundle and there is over 1/4" variation from board to board.

Back out to the middle of nowhere. First day was nice and clear, now it is raining. I got about 50ft shy of my 1/4 mile long driveway cleared of sagebrush (by hand as I haven't gone and gotten my tractor and backhoe yet). Once the driveway is clear, I have 330ft of ROW/road to clear.
Tomorrow, I'll go get my tractor and a bunch of other stuff. Tuesday, I'll get my backhoe and more stuff.
It's a 9hr round trip to get stuff, so I'll be packing as much as I can per trip.
