Straighten Steering Wheel?

    BLU LOGIC bt, avid, weather tech mats & rain guards, 285/70/17, BenWA's totally AWESOME power sliding window mod.
    The hub under the dash will move the steering wheel without changing the alignment. 2 bolts in driver side wheel well and slide the collar down the steering shaft then remove the plastic boot at floorboard and remove bolt by rag (rubber) joint slowly pull out shaft. hold steering wheel or it will turn fast. turn 1 or 2 grooves.

    You'll need to adjust your tie rods, but make sure you turn them the same amount on both sides or you'll throw off your alignment.

    For instance, loosen the jam nuts on both sides, screw in one side 1.5 turns, unscrew the other side 1.5 turns, and tighten the jam nuts.

    How much you need to adjust and in what direction is based on how off your steering wheel is.

    The tie rod is the shaft with the rubber boot over the inside part at the center of this picture

    You'll be turning the small diameter shaft after loosening the jam nuts. You'll see flat spots in the center that allow an adjustable wrench to grab.

    getting there....
    It's easier on these trucks...first hens anyway....to go to where the steering rack meets the shaft....there is a couple there. Unborn the 2 bolts and slide it outta the way while you get someone to set the steering wheel where you want it....then slide the couple back and bolt back up. Trying to adjust the tie rods is a pita...and can really fubarred your alignment....ask me how I know.:eek:
