traded my 2014 for a 2022 trd with the v6 driving it today ,the only way i can explain it,it feels like it has a slight miss when under a load ,like maybe a bad wire. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Mine does it about 40 to 50mph at low rpm (approx 1200rpm). Feels like engine is lugging and missing. If thats the speed range you were in, yours is probably the same thing. There are quite a few threads about it on here. Toyota says it's normal.

FWIW, I felt like I had a tiny bit of that on my 2020, but it is non-existent after my OTT tune.
Make of it what you will I know not everyone is down for getting their 3rd gen tuned, but it honestly helped SO many things it turned the truck into a different ride.

thanks for your quick replies, it is true i have not driven anything newer than my 2014v6, it was in the lower speeds and going up some hills. Where would i find these other threads? I'm going to get the ott tune done sometime down the road 'I pull a 16' camper.

Use the search in the top right (magnifying glass) and search "shudder". Check the box for "this forum only".

I thought I read somewhere where people discovered loose sparkplugs? Can't you look with a scanner to see cylinder misfire?

You shouldn't feel anything. I've had a a 2020 sr5 v6 for over 3 years, and it's as smooth as can be at any speed. Maybe you have a loose plug, or coil on one of the cylinders.

In a 2022 you don't need to pin. I'll find the instructions.

Here it is. I copied this from a thread called '"3rd gen automatic transmission fluid level check diy". This is what I used and it worked as expected:

AC60F (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE): AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID: ADJUSTMENT; 2020 MY Tacoma

To enter automatic transmission fluid temperature detection mode:
    • Depress and hold the brake pedal.
    • Start the engine. [#1]
    • Turn off electrical and mechanical loads
    • Slowly move the shift lever from P to S, then move the shift lever to P. (~3 seconds each position [#2]
    • While observing the D shift indicator on the combination meter, move the shift lever back and forth between N and D at an interval of less than 1.5 seconds for 12 seconds or more. [#3]
    • Perform #1, #2, & #3 within 60 seconds
    • Check that the D shift indicator comes on for 2 seconds.
    • Move the shift lever from N to P.
    • Release the brake pedal.
    • Allow the engine to idle until the automatic transmission fluid temperature reaches 35 to 45°C (95 to 113°F). The D shift indicator will come on again when the fluid temperature reaches 35°C (95°F) and will blink when it exceeds 45°C (113°F).

The shudder or miss cruising at 40-50mph while lugging the engine is the torque converter. Just how it is with these trucks.

If it's from stop to hard acceleration, it may be the traction control. Try turning it off by long pressing the traction button for 3-5 seconds and then accelerate onto a highway or something to test. I used to think it was the crappy transmission shifting causing that issue, but it turns out it was TC.

I wonder why that happens to some tacoma's, and not to others?

I've been experiencing a pinging noise not related with regular direct injection sound, low rpms when ascending that's when it happens for a sec and goes, I've posted my own thread, everybody says something different but still dealing with it, even took it to the dealer but they are not interested in finding anything but regular service.
