Ehhh, look for the bright side- maybe you can get to use your ice auger and build a fish shanty this winter.

Good evening everyone. I just pop in here occasionally. I might do a stock "mod" to my Taco.., since it has a 3rd gen TRD OR suspension on it ( that's 3 years old now, the front Billies are starting to get a bit weak) it only made sense to grab some 3rd gen SR5 alloys for it. I'm leery about pulling the trigger for new tires right now ( $$ ) but it needs to be done sooner then later.

I'm impressed at the mileage Mike got with his (?) Corolla.

Corolla saw about 45mpg but that was downhill and of course not accurate.

Well I just stopped for fuel in York, headed down to NH with a coworker to help him retrieve a new side by side with the white limo. Have fun everyone.

Happy End of the Fiscal Year! FY 2024 starts tomorrow, and it's Caturday! Baker did not pester the staff (me) to get up this morning, a pleasant surprise (no claws, the "cat clause")... Monday afternoon as I was driving to work downtown, a driver to my right was pointing down at the side of the truck. 'Course you think (I do) of the worst things so I thought maybe he spotted an exhaust leak, Nah, I now figure he was pointing at the color matched dark red metallic emblem overlay letter decals from TVD.
BananaMan can appreciate this "Good News, Bad News" about the 2TR-FE Cat-Back Exhaust system... LCE's has four pieces, including a single straight pipe from the S-pipe to the catalytic converter that fits the longest version, "measure twice, cut once" to fit a shorter Tacoma. Good News is that while squirting the first P'Blaster shots, there are only two corroded bolts and nuts to remove before taking out the OEM exhaust. Bad News: OEM is installed as a single piece, tail tip to cat. Don't relish the notion of cutting it apart from the garage floor with a jigsaw...
Life's too busy to deal with the first CEL on the Mal'bu (eldest daughter noticed it was missing a letter from the trunk lid when we drove from Cordova to Alaska Sales and Service to trade in the '96 Pontiac TransSport SE in '09. This is an '07 LS with the SAAB 4-cylinder, no repairs, just usual maintenance, from the dealer's daily rental fleet (additional time on the assembly line, all options except the hole in the roof, including 4-wheel disc brakes, ABS, traction control that prevents young drivers burning rubber when starting from a stop as a right side parent watches (another dad and I chuckled over his daughter revving the engine while standing on the brakes as nothing happened...) and the first vehicle that met "blue book" value (NADA Guides). Youngest daughter (of two kids) has been using it, so she took it in to a shop that was able to do the work yesterday as most of the shops we know are booked out for a month. $491 to replace the thermostat and calibrate things. Ouch, it's OK as I haven't spent much on it in the past 14 years. Both rigs get close to the same fuel mileage in town... And I feel worn out after four hours with the 11-month old grandson and four-year old (almost five!) granddaughter before going to work cleaning the school building downtown. 20230929_090911[1].jpgKid is getting more confident with walking every day! The older I get, I've found I get down just as fast as I used to, but getting back up takes longer. Glad to have a floor jack and stands... Got the skid plate installed just before the fall rain started in earnest this week! 20230910_140951[1].jpg

Made it home in decent time. Pretty clean rig, came with a plow and only 1k miles on it. Kinda funny being so small, but it's definitely easy to load and fits down trails with no issue. The tundra barely noticed it was back there, only lost 1 mpg with cruise set to 75.

Drove down to Mass yesterday to pick up a nice set of take off leafs from a 3rd gen. Going to remove the 1" blocks. The green bean needs a rear suspension refresh. Some new Bilstein 4600's are arriving Monday.

Few pics from my trip. Fish (all native brook trout) were plentiful, but weren't quite showing their fall colors yet. Always an adventure hiking into the remote ponds. Didn't see another person while I was fishing.
