For all of you A/V folks more knowledgeable than I.
Long story short, to get the seats fully out of this I had to pop the stereo and unhook all the AV cords that run to the headrest DVD players. They all run from that Audiovox interface box (dc 12v) mounted back in there. Can I just leave that there, zip-tie the AV and wires for the players and stuff em back in and put everything back together if I don't want to hook them all back up? Or no good since they're powered lines? Never messed with one of these things and the headrests don't get used anyway. But don't wanna leave my mom with any potential hazard obviously. I can hook it all back up its just a bitch. Any insight appreciated.

Why not just remove the module or disconnect it where it receives power (looks like that harness on the right)?

The module being unplugged from its source renders all connections afterward powerless to leave connected.

This way it's super simple plugging back in.

Appreciate it. Was able to wiggle that harness out, just enough room. (that little white cord in background goes to nothing, its just cut) My brain is fried so I'm just expecting shit to be more complicated than it is I think. Been one of those quick jobs that ends up taking turns. Thanks man.
So I could just remove that box now and get rid of the system instead of hooking it all back up which would make life easier if I have to do this again one day.
But I didn't think i could leave this little bugger unplugged in there? Its running into the loom with the stereo harness. Props to whatever shop did the work, everythings in there cleanly at least.

    It happens.

Being an aftermarket dvd setup, that thing could be spliced in a number of ways.

A clean setup would be a non-permanent solution like one of those add a tap with built-in fuse. If so, remove the fuse and the cord is powerless. I'd do this for car amps as pulling and running a 2/4 awg wire from the engine bay all the way back again is something I like to do only once.

I'd look up the model, look up the instructions, and it'll tell you what the kit came with to help figure it out versus pulling stuff out.

With that said, you can leave it as is as it won't interfere with anything. Lots of vehicles have open plugs left out the same way as many utilize the same main harness, but lack all the options found in its premium variant.

Agreed on easily removable being a plus. Even if they were able to run the wires further and put the connections down at or in the seat instead of up behind the stereo, it would make life so much easier. I'll look the model up and download the manual too. Worse case I just hook it back up. But good to know I can leave that wire in there, I wasn't sure if it would be a hazard at all being loose if it was powered.

All of this because of a sunroof lol.
Still better than paying, but shit.

Yeah tear down like that would've been a lot in labor.

If it's not under warranty, makes sense why you're doing it.

Is this a failed part you're replacing? Or were outside factors an influence? I ask cause some things could go through insurance.

Yeah its a 14, so no warranty. Her sunroof motor failed and parts of the wiring harness were corroded, both from water after the drain lines clogged and the plastic cowl up there flooded and basically from there it traveled down the a-pillar as well and soaked the floor. It was a slow buildup that must've happened a few times but the last big storm really pushed it over the edge. Under the carpet on drivers side was nasty. She'd also had some drips coming out of the center ceiling console. I pulled trim and headliner out, took it to the shop for the new wiring and motor/track then brought it back and pulled the interior and got the carpet out today. Bought her new headliner and carpet kit. Going to clean everything really good. I water tested the sunroof just in case, seems good. They cleaned the hoses with soap and water and compressed air while they had it. I usually just use weedwacker wire haha. I'm just going to make sure I go clean them monthly now. Don't want to do this again and it sucks for her because she has no car while its going on and my dads at work.

Been raining here all weekend. Certainly enjoying it but I had a lot of yard work plans this weekend that I didn't get done blah.

Nah went to the drag strip hoping it would clear, it didn't. Then just a long list of chores at home. I did post it yesterday but I did take some time to build a '79 Ford truck. Did better than the Supra I built. I saw Amazon has the F150 lightning from the first fast and furious... :anonymous:
