Public service announcement, when you spend the better part of three days cleaning out mud and silt from out of the nooks and crannies of the undercarriage and frame rails, go back the day after that and do some archeological digging around the rear locker actuator. Holy shnickeyn do those things trap mud! And in all the worst ways!

There is a tiny little space between the back of the actuator housing and the rear diff that is about 4 or 5 mm in width. If you don’t see a gap, it’s probably packed. I’ve seen pics of old actuators with holes rotted through that side of the housing. Now I know exactly how that happens.

It’s probably best to pick off the mud while it’s dry. Use a small pick to carefully loosen and blow out as much as you can without snagging wires and such. Then gently rinse with water. This is the gap (drivers side perspective, driveshaft flange visible on left):

I think I hosed off damn near a yard of silt and mud this week lol. Most of it trapped in the skidplates though. They’re a pain to take off, but I would used a lot less water and probably time of I just took them off. Next time…

This is my third round. I was rotating tires and figures I’d hit it quick with the hose to get the brakes and suspension cleaned up…lol

Thanks! Food was nothing special but it did hit the spot on a cold and rainy morning.

Usually just dirt and rocks. Sometimes some grass or corn stalks. On occasion there’s some oil when I make a mess.

Careful now, I apparently I'm a fucking asshole who hates everyone and treats you all like peasants....

As far as I know though, the taco only accepts IDs for four TPMS. So unfortunately you either have to run and ignore the one in the spare. Or you can use a little dashboard button reset trick every time you do a rotate.

Annoying, yes ..... but the new Taco will have a 5 sensor memory. Plus you'll be able to program an entire second set of wheels/tires/tpms and toggle between them when you swap out. So that's cool.

I must have missed something here. I've certainly had my share of debates with @CygnusX191 , but I've never thought of him as an asshole. I do, however, consider myself an asshole at times. :anonymous:

Looks awesome @rubbersidedown! As for the spare, It'll fit. I had my 33 spare under the bed. One thing I did was move the spare tire lift rearward. Required dilling new holes bit it helped. Here's a post on doing it https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-fit-larger-spare-tire-and-axle-dump-exhaust.605837/

3rd Gens can't do 5 TPMS sensors which is a big thumbs down.
