I have a 2023 Toyota Tacoma. I recently purchased a travel trailer and electronic brake bluetooth system for it. The bluetooth unit plugs into the 7 pin connector. I didn't have any issues with it. However the unit has stopped working. I have no power to it.
The manufacturer said that I probably don't have 12v power so I thought I replaced the correct 30 amp fuse. However, I still don't have power to the brake unit. But if I plug in the trailer to the 7 pin connector, all of my lights work.

I'm not sure which 30 or 40 amp fuse needs to be replaced. Just remember I have a novice when it comes to fuses and electricity.

If its an aftermarket controller 100% start by looking near the battery positive terminal and see if any wires come off.

There's a fuse panel under the hood, a 30a fuse named towing tail that you can pop out and check. Also check the 40 amp towing brk #1 fuse.

I’m pretty sure there is a pin out on the 7-pin cover. The one you flip up to insert the connector.
I’d start by seeing if you have power to the pins that a labeled.

I’d have to take look at mine, but I think it’s the one labeled “Battery” that has constant 12v power. Start by seeing if it has power.

Well if it’s the pin in the 1’ o’clock position, the running/head lights would need to be on to have power to that pin.

The pin at the 4 o’clock position is power at all times.

Well technically it requires 3 fuses and a relay to get power to that pin.
The easiest thing to check is to see if 10A ig1 no.2 fuse and the 40A Battery Charge fuse have power to them. Key ON in the run position.

That would be your BAT CHG Fuse 40A that powers the + terminal of the trailer socket.

there's a relay in a little 'side car' behind the main underhood fuse box for this-- if the truck is not running that pin will not have power. it's a safety feature built into the truck. i know because my bed lights are tied into that for power. it was easier to alter the relay and jump off the rear power harness than it was to run power wire all the way to the back of the truck.

    Yes, that is correct.
The truck need to be on. The ignition switch powers the 5a fuse that controls that relay.
