Man, when I get my dual-sport I'm gonna have to hit y'all up. I'm looking at trying to snag a KLR-650 with all the gear compartments so I can get into the camping and trail riding while also being able to do some cross country motocamping.

I'm not sire how you'd go about churchin' up motorcycle camping to glamping status but I'm willing to find out!

Absokutely gorgeous. I was a bit nervous that the East Coast may not have quite enough dirt or gravel roads to make a dual sport worth it, but y'all are helping assuage me there. Are there decent routes in the area? I know you really have to head out to the midwest to get some of those firebreak trails and the days off offroad riding...

Yes there are quite a few! Plenty of events too if you're into that. Basically any truck fire road can be done on a bike.

Last group ride I went on, was in Michaux SF going down towards Frederick Watershed. A couple stream crossings too.

If you want a route, check out www.ridebdr.com. When I was in NY and up north I was attempting the NEBDR. But theres a mid Atlantic one too.

Let me know when you get a bike. It would be awesome to have someone closer than @AR15xAR10 to ride with! I havent been out in a while, but definitely need to. Took a break in August because it got too hot

I recently read somewhere that my honda pioneer 1000cc SxS has the same motor as the honda Africa twin.

 

I see few dual sport clubs enjoying the roads here on the mountain. They sometimes camp along the river. I spoke to a couple riders a few years back and they were telling my about gravel roads, if I remember correctly they called it the Transcontinental trail? They traveled it from Ohio? I believe that's what they told me but don't quote me on that lol.

 

Could possibly be! I think it shares the same motor across a few models. (Mine is actually the 1100cc model, but yours might share the previous gen engine)
