Currently doing my first engine rebuild. I am trying to install the chain tensioner and it will not go into the head. I have it in the correct way and it is the original tensioner so I assumed it would go in easy. In order to get it in I will need to use a hammer but am a bit hesitant as I don’t want to strip the teeth on the tensioner hammering it in. Are they all this damn tight? Did the machine shop give me a different head by accident? Am I just being a fat pussy and need to send her home? Thanks for any input.

I just did mine a week ago, i didn't notice any friction whatsoever.

How does it sit in the original head?

Update: I threw the tensioner in the freezer and was able to barely squeeze it in by hand. I’m still confused why it was so hard in the first place.
