Drove two hours each way for $500 wheels and tires from a 2020 Tacoma TRD off-road. I didn't mind the drive and I didn't think the price was too bad. Same size 16s.

Really makes that shitty Fremont water-based silver paint look a little better.

I’m working on my knock sensor replacement, as well as coil pack tunnel gaskets, and of course valve cover gaskets! What a job, but at 257,000+ miles it’s the least I can do for my truck!

 

Is it possible the TPMS sensors in the new tires just... work? I'm not getting a light on my dashboard or anything.

 

No 3rd gen are not the same as 2006. It may be because you had old tires with tpms in bed or near the truck. I have done a lot of wheel swaps on my last 3 Tacomas and sometimes I can drive nearly an entire day before light comes on. I suggest buying a new set of Roadfar tpms off Amazon for $42 (all 4 for $42) plus one for the spare. Your old tpms are at the end of battery life anyway. Get Walmart to install them and they program them free (even if someone else installs them). I had my local Walmart program at least 5 sets for my trucks. I have 2022 4runner wheels on my 2008.

If your old tires are in the garage, they'll continue to transmit to the TPMS ECU. Leave home for 20 minutes and the TPMS light should come on.

Maybe I did mine wrong but wouldn't it be more effective to sound deaden inside the door panel? I would think that would do more against outside / road noise.

 

Yup, I did the inside of the door panel as well. At least as much as I could reach/roll down. But covering the outside of the panel is very effective as well. Covering the holes in the panel gives it a better sound chamber if I'm not mistaken. I also put some on the door panel itself. I have very little knowledge in this stuff, but every audio guy I've talked too has recommended sound deadening for sound systems.

 

Thanks for the info. Doing inside the door was a real pain. I'll put some more sheets on to cover the holes.

 

Replaced a bad coil at full pop. $110 for it from the dealer. unfortunately my 2nd car is down with a bad battery so no choice.

I thought ngk coils would be good but I guess not. These are only a couple years old.

I have ordered denso replacements for the rest at $40 each.

 

Had to order 2 of the Hewitt-Tech Pressure Sensor Replacement kit, this will completely eliminate by SAIS in my truck.
