I just bought a 2023 Tacoma SR, V6, 4x4. I've ordered a few things for it (console and glove box organizers, larger front cup holder for my wife's huge water bottle), installed some upgraded exterior bulbs, and am doing paint correction/PPF/ceramic.

What are some of the "must do" mods you guys and ladies have done? FWIW, I can't lift it or go crazy with oversized tires because of the limitations of my garage height, and I'm not inclined to go with an aftermarket exhaust because I leave early on weekends and would like my neighbors to not start hating me. :)

Any suggestions are appreciated. Kinda wish I had fog lights, but only if plug-and-play. My wife's not thrilled with the lack of a visor mirror, but that's easily remedied with a clip on.

not even going to acknowledge you until I see some raptor lights.

    Jk.
not really a "mod"- but getting some all-weather floor mats is hands down something I have never regret and really appreciate having every time I look down.
    Husky is what I recommend.

OEM bed mat. Better tweeters. Diode Dynamics LEDs inside. Raised "TACOMA" lettering on the glovebox and tailgate. MesoCustoms taillight conversion.

Based on some threads around here lately: miles.

Drive the truck stock for a while to get used to how it runs, and find out if there are any idiosyncrasies. You don't want to run into issues and wonder if you caused them with mods, or if there was another underlying issue.

After that: +1 on the bed mat and all weather floor mats. Good phone mount, too.

The only options it came with are the all weather mats/scuff plates and the bed lighting kit. :) Great advice though, especially here where the winter weather makes things messy. I have the bed mat already ordered, along with door edge guards.

And whatever Raptor lights are, it sounds like I should get some. :D

There are no "must do" mods. It all depends on how you plan to use it. Daily Driver? Offroad Rock Crawling? Offroad Overlanding? Mall Crawler? On-road adventure vehicle/Road Trip Warrior? Work Horse for hauling stuff?

Daily driver. My mud bogging and rock climbing days went away when I sold my last CJ-7. Maybe some overlanding at some point, but that's at least a few years away.

Got it. These were my immediate, low cost mods:
    • All weather floor mats
    • Bed Mat - the stock bed stuff slides everywhere. OEM bed mat is the best value Toyota has!
    • Some sort of phone mount
Literally that is my only must do for a daily driver. Anything else is gravy

I bought the same truck last august. Oem bed mat, tint, and swapped grille and steel wheels out with take offs is all I’ve done so far. Tonneau cover and seat covers are next on the list.

I got the same truck last month. I put in fog lights and seat jackers so far. I am waiting for my seat heater kit to arrive so I can put those in before it gets cold. +1 on the tonneau cover and bed mat.

I got side steps, mud flaps, and black chrome exhaust within 2 weeks of ownership.

Then my concern was catalytic converter shield (Talon CAT) and the OEM Tailgate Lock.

From there...the bed mat, bed lights, TRD Skid, locking lug nuts, OEM LED headlights, sequential turn signals, interior/license plate LEDs, Diode Fog Lights, locking gas cap, battery tie down, OEM leather shift handle, SaBellCo Tailgate lock, TRD Oil Cap, Hood struts, Vintage Grill with Raptor Lights, OTT Tune, Tinted Windows and window guards, and lastly Fender Flares!

I've got Total Chaos Bed Stiffeners coming for Christmas...because at some point I want the Diamondback Tonneau cover.

I've done lots of upgrades in over 2 years...I'm loving my TRD Sport with Skewp!!!

You could definitely get away with a 2 " Bilstein 5100 lift, and 265/75/16 A/T tires. Very minimal lift, but great results and looks.

If your SR has tweeters in the dash, the plug & play Subaru (Kicker) tweeters make a world of difference in the soundstage.
