oh interesting! that's a good idea! this will also take care of odo reporting, correct? obviously, i won't be rolling back because of...legalities. but want to mak sure the actual future odo readings are more accurate to teh vehicle's true mileage. (it's probably super high right now).

 

Toyota ODO And Speedo are controlled by wheel sensors only. No need to adjust for regear, only larger tires.

if you have larger than stock tires your ODO/Speedo are actually reading lower speeds and miles, so ODO is showing lower mileage than actual.

 

hmmmm. good to know. but the car is reading higher. a 100 mile gps trip showed up as 110 miles. :/

 

That's true. Didn't think of his issue being higher than it should. Mine was slower and under reporting mileage before I installed the calibrator.

 

My 23 4Runner's speedo is 3% over. I'll be doing 75 mph per GPS and the speedometer will read 77 mph. I plan on going to 285s. Two birds, one stone.

Yeah, if you are on stock tires, 265/70/R16 it does under report mileage/speed, and inflate mpg. If you go to 265/75/R16 tires it reads correctly.

Why would Toyota want to inflate mileage/ODO and MPG? Oh wait…

I had mine done a few years back (also audio upgrades and front camera) at Laketown in Draper. Still works great.

I'm going to be home, playing in my shop, trying to get my '78 Chevy chassis ready to be shortened from 131.5 inches to 112... so I can put my M37 body on it. Getting very close. Can't wait to start mounting the body on the truck.
