Got a hold of van, going to be dropping the engine off this Friday. We’re throwing a cam in the motor as well. He’s going to go through everything.

this gives me the opportunity to clean the engine bay really well, get the oil blasted off everything, paint it, change the rag joint, and just clean up the shit show that was the LS6.

It’s registered in Scottsdale until November, but I’m going to be registering it up north.

I need a heated/steam pressure washer. Know anyone in phx who would let me use one?

interesting, the drivers side one of those is different than the ones I got I think. Could be what gave you more clearance. I did have to massage mine for more clearance and cut a piece out of one of the tubes to give me even more.

yeah I only had to hammer mine flat a bit to get it to fit I only cut a section of tube out because It was still close and I didn’t want any issues with the way I use my truck in the desert but curious about the ones @Pittsy used since his might actually have more clearance, but looking back I guess mine are similar they just use a vband instead of the 3 bolt flange.

Engine bay steam pressure washed, same for the engine. Got everything nice and clean. Going to repaint the engine bay and install a new rag joint.

didn’t want to give van a grody greasy engine.

My regular 2000psi electric pressure washer took the dirt stains right out of the paint no problem.

I used the steam pressure washer to clean the sludge, oil, and grease off my frame and transmission and everywhere, lol.

Maybe I’ll take the accessories off before I give him the engine then. I’m hoping the reassembly process is pretty quick. I’m hoping to have it back within a month ideally.

Etch primer and painted the engine bay and frame rails.

also stripped the engine of all its accessories minus the flex plate. Dropping it off to van tomorrow.

    @hayrider2.0

Im throughly pissed off. After 2 weeks of miscommunication with Van, he recommends that I don’t even have him build the engine because he’s too busy with his main job to build
It and that I should go over to Kelley’s machine shop. Said they’re about a month out on labor. He said he’ll talk to them, then let me know that i was good to drop it off today. Showed up to drop the engine off, and they looked at me like I was crazy. Had no idea I was coming, and their lead time is months.

I’m now thinking about just buying an engine from Texas speed, I’m done dealing with van and the companies associated with him.

Why not just pull it apart, replace what needs replacing, seal it up and put it back in like you originally planned?

It's not really that hard, they are very simple engines and there's a bajillion videos on youtube

the oil was full of metal. I don’t want to put a damaged engine back in. I don’t know what’s good and what’s not good. I can’t find anything blatantly obvious but something’s wearing somewhere.

Did you pull the heads and pan off? I'm sure it will become apparent pretty quickly

Maybe something similar to that recent 4.0 with the Cam?
