So I have a '97 Tacoma and my tailgate is scratched up and the "Toyota" stickers are rubbing off as well. I'm planning on sanding it down and getting it repainted, but I wanted to know people's opinions on if I should re-do the Toyota stickers on it, or just leave it plain red?

1997 was the last year that the tailgate had the big "old school" Toyota log across the back rather than the little badges in the corners. I kind of like it, but not sure what to do. Any opinions?

I'd replace it. Sockmonkey is making them, I think. Gold would look real nice a red tailgate.

Just paint it and leave it plain red. Looks cleaner IMO

I did a 95-97 grille swap onto my 01 from my 96, then I had Sockmonkey make me the TOYOTA, V6, and SR5 decals for the tailgate to make it really look like an original Tacoma

Shave it all... Leave it clean. Had the same descission on my old 85 Toyota when I had the body work completed and the paint shot I left off all the stickers and just added a pinstrip. Looked great.

Go old school. There are at least a couple of different types of old school.

I have a 97 also and took my whiteish/cream colored letters off and made a matte black one to replace it... looks pretty sweet. My buddy has a vinyl doodad thingamajigger that he uses for his business that we made it with. If interested I can make a second one in almost any color you want. If we dont have the color already you would just have to pay for the vinyl but I could send you one no problem.
