Going to buy a new Tacoma today , what's up with the shaved side Gel Coat Top and the tight ball sack bulging skin tight blue pants and brown shoes.
Had no idea what I wanted and seemed annoyed at any questions.

I think the take a way here is that toyota dealers have made the shopping process an absolutely miserable experience.

 

I hate the Toyota dealer nearest to me. Thankfully one not far from me has been great.

 

Some have, some haven't...

February 2022 - Dealer A, which was only one in town with Tundras on the lot. I walk in and there are about 12 sales people standing around...none seem to want to help me. Finally got someone and I told them I wanted to test drive a Tundra. They had 5 on their lot. First thing they say was "so you know, we have a $10k mark up on them and it is non negotiable." Took a test drive and they wanted to go talk numbers. I said no thank, not paying any mark up. They told me it was fine, they would have them all sold by the end of the week. End of the week they called me and told me they would take $5k off the markup. Told them to FOAD.

Next day I contacted Dealer B. They did not have and new ones, but just got a used 2022 Tundra on trade and wanted me to come drive it. I get there and the sales lady was waiting outside with some bottles of water and the key. She new I was not going to buy it(wrong trim) but she was all about customer service. Came back, talked numbers and got on their list at MSRP, no add ons, no deposit. They told me I was looking at 6 months, but by mid April they had an almost perfect match and gave me a call. They had it ready to go when I got there and did the paperwork while I was out test driving it.

It is not even a question on which dealer I will be going to for a Tacoma.

 

Meanwhile I ordered a BMW X5 with the color, wheels and options I wanted. 36 days later it was in my garage.

The buying experience is ridiculous at some dealers.

 

i've talked to a bunch over the past year. very few were helpful. most say buy at retail or fuck off. tables are slowly turning with discounts galore on the tacoma.

on the upside, days of supply for industry creeped up 2 days for the industry to 60 and toyota creeped up 1 day to 33.
