    Both manufacturers have reputations. Toyota's reputation is for reliability, Ford's reputation is for going up in flames on the road. Got to say when Toyota has issues those issues are more note worthy, based upon their reputation.

    It never made sense that it was only the Bronco with bad valves, far as I know all 2.7 are the same engine when produced in the same time frame. 2.7 will be the base engine for F-150 moving forward in 24, which you probably already knew. Not good if Ford hasn't resolved this issue.

    True I think the manufacturers respective reputation changes perception. It doesn’t help that the venerable 5.7 built such a strong reputation in terms of longevity and reliability. Hopefully they iron out the problems with the 2.7

    700K vehicles is how many they made with those engines not how many had issues. The article says 861 vehicles with problems.
    I think all manufacturers are garbage since covid.

    Not just vehicles, products in general have quality issues since covid

    It’s enough for the NHTSA to launch an investigation. Catastrophic engine failure that can happen while driving, and 809 engine replacements. I’ve seen a lot of quality control issues in many industries after covid. Just in time supply chain model is certainly not without issue

    800 out of 700K is not really that crazy. It could have just been a bad batch of valves. How many tundra engine failures will there be out of a much smaller amount of total vehicles?

    Yea it was a valve issue, my guess is they caught it too late though that’s why there are so many potential vehicles that are included in the investigation. If it becomes a safety issue in the tundra investigative agencies will have to step in. It’s hard to gauge the rate of failure among tundra engines based on forum post alone though. A definitive investigation like fords facing would give us a better picture. Hopefully they get their shit together on the new LC and taco. The QC control issues in the tundra and recalls have been disappointing

    Not a whole lot of confidence in manufactured products post pandemic. Even the Tacoma has had some minor issue, seat belt anchor welds fit and finish complaints from customers, maybe a few other things I've over looked. Trucks sitting waiting delivery due to QC. Not that the Tacoma is a bad product, and I don't think it has anything to do with location. There is a new plant, which could have unexpected issues no matter where it's located, and it doesn't make it any easier to get a product when it has to cross a boarder and go through customs.

    Everything sucks! :jpow::annoyed::angrygirl:

    I know right. I want a manual transmission, my wife does not want one in case she needs to drive the truck. So we’re compromising and she’s going to get another cat and an automatic truck.

    I compared my 2022 to a 2023 trail edition in my work fleet and the build quality is night and day. The passenger side of the hood where it meets the fender/quarter panel doesn't line up, panel gaps are wider, and as for the interior, the left wheel spoke on the steering wheel squeaks when I press on it, some interior panels don't line up, the cheap, thin plastic around the climate control dials feels extra thin and hallow and creaks when I press on it. The 2023 trail edition doesn't have any of these issues and feels more solid and better built. I'm disappointed in the build materials, sure but mechanically, it's been great. But then again, it's only been a year and 21k miles.

    Lol. I see a lot of 3rd gen Tacomas on the road . Aside from the Jeep I'd say the Tacoma is the next most popular vehicle I see in my travels. 3rd gens being the most abundant.
