    Hey everyone.

Can someone please explain why my leafspring main eye is squeaking?

I've been having this issue since I installed my OME Dakkar leaf springs.

For some reason the driver side leafspring main eye where the bolt goes makes this horrible squeak. I usually add some lubricant and it will stop the squeak for a couple hundred miles.

I'm worried that it can be something worse. May I have over torqued the bolt? Under torqued it?

Or this a common issue for the dakkar leaf springs?

I installed greasable bolts when I did my leaf springs. As long as I lube them every couple months they don't squeak.

I can't remember where I bought the bolts. Maybe Wheelers.

Just the nature of poly bushings. What are you using to lubricate them? THICK silicone is best (Super Lube or better). If you shooting some wd40 at it or something like that at it, you might be washing away the silicone making it worse.

    great pix

that curve of the 2nd from the top leaf should wrap around bushing
there appears to be an obvious gap present....especially on the top
i bet the top leaf is rubbing/squeaking from hitting the bushing

look at opposite(non squeaky) side see if that 'C' portion of leaf has same gap

interested....let us know what u find

after looking those OME springs online have different ends
they mark top of springs with a + or - (assuming for front shackle or rear shackle)
plz tell me that both L and R are the facing correct!!!!!

They are placed the right way. But I can double check.

I took a picture of the same area again. Just different angles.

I also took a picture of the passenger side (the image that has the sun shining on the eye lid).

They both seem the same to me.

The springs are fine. It's possible that @ControlCar isn't familiar with Military Wrap leaf springs.

Poly bushings are just loud- gotta get the right THICK silicone in there.

I'm going to give that a try. I've been using a silicone spray meant for bushings and other "poly based seals". I may just look into those greasable bolts that you can use a grease gun. Just like the ones in the rear shackles.

I'm going to look around. I think that would ve the best long term solution either that or replace the bushings with another brand. I can't remember but awhile back I saw another brand others used because of the squeaking issue. All I remember was that they were red bushings.

I started to hear my dakars doing this recently. I hear it all the time. Even when I exit the vehicle. I sprayed some Houdini lock cylinder stuff in the leaf clamps as the noise was coming from those. Not the lead eye. I had lots of dust from some gravel road galavanting. Those clamp things have a rubber piece or poly (not sure) that rides right up a against the leaf pack. Stopped it for now.

I’ll 2nd the thick grease and I do use Superlube for my poly bushings. My leaf packs only creak when they’re overly dusty between the leaves. The bushings are quiet far as I can tell. I did my install 1/30/21 and no need to regrease yet. Attaching a zoomed in screenshot where you can see some superlube making its way out around the bushing.

Dang, you guys using Superlube are missing out

Prothane Super Grease is significantly thicker as I have this, Superlube, and several other lubricants

    20221130_133523.jpg

Prothane Super Grease is all I'd ever use or recommend on poly bushings

So my question now.... how do apply the lube on my leafspring? Do need to dissamble it and apply the lube inside the bushing?

Outside of the bushings, the only other things that'd squeak are the little disks between each leaf at the ends.

I am wondering id the original torquing of that eye bolt was done with the full weight of the truck on the ground. In other words, were the springs at ride height?
