I don’t have a bike anymore but it’s not unheard of to see photograph a strangers bike I find appealing.

A buddy of mine has a pretty cool stool made out of some classic racer parts. Pretty cool, it even hydraulic!

So I ended up getting another 500, this time in RED, not orange. I couldn’t say no it was too good a price for a ‘23 barely used.

This isn’t my bike, as mine is still bone stock. But this is where it’s headed. Small adv bike.
The ‘23 came with spoke wheels, so all I am doing is some bark busters, GPS, maybe a can, and a front mx fender.

I am pleased I picked it up. Was thinking it may be a wasted purchase being that I have so many above or below this displacement. But I am glad I did, it is more nimble than the 890r, and still has some balls to rev out. There is a flat spot down low, so you have to maintain clutching or keep your RPMs up. I think it will get a Rekluse.

Perfect for someone with some experience on a dual sport to give this a go. Could easily be someone’s first bike. Would probably recommend getting on a WR in the woods before this though.

Shits nuts how much they want for these bikes. If I can find one with a few hours and offer someone some good money and a trade, then I am on it.

Ha I love that this showed up because I want to build a tensegrity stool out of my used motorcycle chains.

Just realized between the two chains I replaced on the DRZ and Husky I have enough material now. Going to go with this style so it's tensioned only in the center.

So I got to ask, what are y’all’s opinions on awd Subarus? I need to get an awd hatchback or small wagon (we got 4 dogs).

I like spreading out the miles on my vehicles so this one will be a DD.

I am also open to hear options other than Subaru, just has to have good AWD. It gets nasty in the winter where I am, and the inclines up the mtn pass can get shitty.

There is a reason why subaru awd vehicles are like every other one up in mtn towns / places like salt lake city etc. They work, and they work VERY well. There are some definite known issues, but do the due diligence on which drivetrain combo is best.

Had a WRX for a couple years, and had no complaints. The boxers are pretty solid motors so long as you don't push to much. If you search a bit you'll find lots of people blowing head gaskets, but many of those are from modded/tuned cars that were pushed. Same for blow motors on "race" cars that didn't get internals upgraded to handle the extra power.

Now, some have had actual gasket failures that were legitimate issues, but the huge number of modded cars overinflates the issue. To add perspective, Toyota feels at least one of their engines is reliable enough to wear a Toyota badge in the GR86.

I also wouldn't buy an automatic as all of theirs are CVTs. I don't like how a CVT has to cut power as an act of self preservation if you are in a sticky spot. TFL had the issue in the Crosstrek off road. It would cut power because the spinning of the wheels was heating the belt too much on the CVT and it made some routes impassible for the Crosstrek. The CVT is over a grand more on the price and it is sealed, so if it ever has a problem you're looking at over a thousand bucks just to drop it to diagnose any internal issues.

A used base model or premium Crosstrek could be had with a manual transmission up until the 2023 model year. For the 2024 they dropped the manual.

Timing belt needs to be done every 100k, and if you have a flat, need to replace all 4 tires. And also might have head gasket issues. Im kinda considering an older Forester myself

Ha I'm slackin on the pics over here! The tire feels good though I put 120 miles on it

Also took my wife for a ride on the Super duke. She hasn't been on a bike with me in a long time. We're planning a short overnight trip Fri/Sat and want to take the bike but it's looking like rain so far so we'll see...

Subaru's symmetrical AWD is superior, at least the last time I did any research. Have owned two WRXs and no major issues with either.

just a couple of things tbh
i have a cheap car but id rather have one nice car i can also enjoy so not really something i want to do and only drive old vehicles that are cheap. im very very picky with vehicles haha if they bore me ill ditch them fast

no i dont like the look of the basic integra i prefer the look of the si. even thou the teggy would be nice with it being a hatch im just not a fan of the si equivalent.

now a type s! oh ya id buy one of those if i could afford one lol

they are pretty good cars as long as you dont push them... boxers dont like it and will eventually go boom if pushed to hard. the sti thou id stay away from that engine has more issues then the standard wrx engine. id also stay away from any auto they have they are rather gutless and boring even for a dd
