Got her tinted today. 15% all around. Nothing on windshield for now. Got 5% on my 3rd gen runner and decided to go back to 15% for this one. Xpel brand. Looks darker in that parking garage.
Also got a second RS3000 remote after several attempts of finding different versions I could only find the original or a $60 aftermarket case for it. So going zip tie route for now.
Just maintenance and comfort/cosmetic stuff for now.

I'm actually right behind you! I pulled my beat-up DC in to start straightening the bed floor before bobbing it and doing the tank lift. Are you going to document on a build thread? Need a place to talk techniques/problem-solving if we run into anything challenging. :)

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I always put this sort of stuff in my build thread. But, I can also start a thread specifically for the gas tank relocate.

No pics, but I repainted my gas tank skid plate and re installed it between yesterday and today. Gas tank looks really good. Just one of those little jobs I've been wanting to do. Going to order all the parts needed for the valve cover gasket job.

Not today, but on Monday I did the PITA fuel filter change on the 2.7L. Just under 4 hours of pure bliss!

Wow. 4 hours? That's rough! Just did mine. I found taking the filter out with the hoses attached made it pretty doable if you're talking about the same one as me (the one under the intake manifold).

Only 2 borderline unreachable bolts. :rofl:Took me 45 minutes, and somehow managed to not lose any washers/bolts/etc. this time.

Anyone ever reseal their transfer case output shafts, and the seal between the t-case and transmission? How hard and/or involved is it?

Mine was leaking a bunch, couldn't tell from where. I threw it up on the lift at work and pressure washed the whole thing to see where it's coming from. Definitely gear oil.

I was able to do mine relatively pain-free through the driver side wheel well. Even have upper control arm double shear welded on which doesn't make access any easier, but still got it done.
I can't imagine trying to do it from the bottom or top of the engine.

I've changed the front output shaft seal on my t-case. A leak there is pretty obvious if it is more than a slow seep. Aside the from the puddle on the ground, oil will also get all over the rear of the t-case. Not too difficult a job with the right tools of course. Once you remove the stake nut it is a fairly straight forward seal swap. Toyota considers the stake nut a single use item. YMMV.

Also, swapped in a new trans earlier this year. As part of that, a new trans input shaft seal for the new-to-me t-case was installed before the two sections were put together. If that seal has failed, you will see the leak at the mating surfaces between the trans and the t-case. The actual seal swap is easy peasy.

+1 to front output seal replacement being easy. Did it a couple years ago and wasn’t bad at all.

Well Toyota is wrong, you can reuse it :anonymous: I pulled the trans and tcase to do mine, super easy.

I like your diff fix. Kinda worried about my duros leaving the scene too. They seem to be at least half of their name haha

Lol yeah I was going to contact them about warranty or what. But it's been on there a while, is it common? He ever come out with the fronts?

And yeah the plug was technically tacked in, then it started leaking before a trip so I threw quick steel on it 2 years ago but I must have rubbed some off. I just don't feel like doing the work to fix it "right" when I eventually want to replace it with a stronger axle lol.

Yeah duros busting off their bonded plate is nothing new, @unstpible just had it happen to him actually too. He does have a part number for the fronts now, they're not listed under the truck on his site but rather in the description for the rears. :notsure: I dunno, they feel good compared to hitting the stock bumps but they make weird contact with the strike surface and I can't help but notice that would try to push them off their mount... I have low expectations for mine staying in one piece for long.

The chances of them busting does make me concerned about running both front and rears. I actually blew out the shock on that side but not sure if that was unrelated. Don't remember seeing that when I pulled the shock.

@unstpible did you try to pursue warranty or just said eh it's a wear item and buy a new set?
