Hi there, 2020 Tacoma looking to change my 3rd brake light. I am a bit nervous about changing it out and then ending up with leaks. Can any of you shed some light on ones you've put on with no issues with leaks after having them for a while? I have found one on Amazon for like $55 (and I almost positive it is the exact one from Tacoma Lifestyle for $80 with the whole "F1-flash"). There seems to be a few different companies that make the same exact one or if they're all the same with different names?

I just didn't know once these are replaced if leaking becomes common as that's not worth the trade for me. Thank you for any help!

merit: appreciate the replies, for now I think I’m going to leave it alone

Given the stock ones have leaking issues for quite a few year models, I would not even risk an aftermarket Amazon one.

Things tend to leak when you fart around with them... I'd leave it be.

I've had the Morimoto for a while now, a little rain and several car washes and no leaks so far. Great light output also but kind of pricey.

I don't mind pricey if it seals well. Versus buying a cheaper one that may not go well like someone else mentioned. Did you have to do any additional seals for it or just whatever it came with?

If I am being honest, just looks. Mine now is totally functional OEM one just a stark white plastic on a black truck. Not looking to be super edgy and smoke everything but wanted the light to have a darker lens if possible. I'm just not sure about how and what to maybe seal with additionally to make sure the aftermarket one stays water tight (even though they all advertise that they are). Or if additional sealing is even needed based on other people's experiences with certain lights.

    Edit: grammar fix

I bought the same light. Did you have to pull the headliner down to install or how'd you go about it?

I must be an old fuddle duddle, as I just don't see the point in replacing it.

Going darker means your even "less" visible to the blind people who drive into you. Smoke Brake light lenses seems counterproductive to me.

Not worth the risk for me. After all, how valuable is it really?

Put a topper on and it's hidden.

Ijits behind you texting don't see it anyway.

Yes yo have to pull the headiner down in the back to get to the nuts on the inside. It's definitely a bit of a pain but totally doable with a little patients.
