That intake is so nice and clean looking. Looks like it frees up a lot of engine bay space compared to the alternatives. Where's the maf located?

 

The URD intake puts the MAF about 10 inches from the filter so it's in front of the intercooler rad.

 

The car is out and running pretty well so now I can take the truck down for a few days to do some fixes and upgrades!

I spent the summer focused forwarding my music career (as it is), and just procrastinated on the long to-do list. BUT I finally got the right hub (bought off a friend along with the new intake) and installed a clock spring (and a tiny wheel at the same time). Back in 2012 there wasn't a hub specifically for the Tacoma so I was until the other day using a 2005 Celica hub. This required some ugly cutting, but luckily I still had everything I needed to put a stock clock spring back in. I didn't have a clock spring for 11 years. Now I'm trying to get motivated to do some more stuff on the to-do list, leave a message below that you think will help get my ass in gear.

What is missing when you have no clockspring (honestly never thought about it)

The signal lights wouldn't cancel when turning the wheel back straight after a turn, which was the biggest thing. I had adjusted to it for the most part but still would leave the signal light on quite often.

Also your traction control is permanently disabled. That never bothered me though, I actually liked having more direct control over the application of power to the wheels.

 

It's amazing how much better it feels with just a difference of 1".

Do you use two hands to steer a lot? Curious. I've always been a one hand on the wheel kind of guy unless needing evasive maneuvers. I always kind of palm pressure spin the steering wheel and smaller might cut down the leverage.

 

Not a lot, I do palm the wheel all the time. However the smaller wheel is noticeably stiffer to turn - so I automatically started using hand over hand more. Although I don't use standard hand over hand, my brain unconsciously came up with this weird variation of it. I can't even replicate it when I think about it, I'll have to get a video of it sometime.

 

Kind of disproportionately excited about this carbon fiber license plate frame - and it's real carbon fiber, not a print and not a CF-covered fibreglass, even.

Also cleaned up all the rust on the bumper and installed new plastic on the center step (had cut a big chunk out of the old one to fit my old plate frame).

 

Carbon license plate frame, I think that's going to cause fishtailing..

I still haven't pulled the trigger on a SC. Had to replace y weel bearings for some reason. Apparently they're not supposed to make noise

 

Haha. I'm sure no one will notice unless I tell them. And the ones that do will think it's fake plastic and call me a square. But I know, and that's what counts.

Well, you'd better get a Magnuson then! What's stopping you at this point?! Repairs come and go, supercharger is forever.

 

Nothing I guess just makin shore that it's running fine and maintenance is done right....

You guys seem to keep that in line along with all the superchargers and mods and stuff though.....

Should I look out for a deal on a used one maybe??

 

Not sure on where would be the "best" place to get one new. @12TRDTacoma ? Could just be in our main supercharger thread on Page 1 because everything is there.

Used? I think the main supercharger rebuilders offer them sometimes? Jon Bond, Stiegmeier, others?? I'm just guessing.

The offer to help you install it is there, although I just started a customs company so I'll have to charge you now

 

What is it that we are talking about here, a full new supercharger?

 

From what I've seen if you can find a used supercharger it usually requires sourcing a bunch of missing installation parts and possibly needing a rebuild as well. All that can easily add to the price of new in addition to all the headaches involved.

If the supercharger rebuilders off them used on occasion like Leigh says then they probably offer everything that you would need vs buying from some random guy.
