Wonder if they used the same clear bezel plastic that scratches when you simply look at it ?

Well the ZR2 gets 16-18mpg so the standard set by the newer gen trucks isn’t that difficult to surpass. Additionally I would think most Pro buyers aren’t too concerned with 17mpg v 21 mpg.

Wonder if it is saying they traveled 135 miles on the tank so far, or if there is only 135 miles distance to empty?

I'd have to think it's distance to empty.

    ?WTF?

I monitor my MPG more than a little. I've learned how to drive the truck or the truck has "learned" how I drive .. or a little of each .

I can't really get anything better than 23 MPG when I drive normal. I can get up to 27 if I really try, but it makes driving a chore. I've settled on getting 20-22 mpg on the reg over the past 3 years.. I guess that's just my truck.

    This is amazing.. LOL

Probably. They been doing this since the early 2000s. My 02 Celica had this same issue.

That trip involved driving downhill from 13,600ft elevation to sea level in a little over 60 miles

I get over 24mpg regularly on hwy drives and 12mpg when towing a 5klb TT.

Ahhh ... I see. That makes sense. Coasting downhill.

I don't tow, but 12mpg seems rough...5k is a lot of weight though.

Here is the unedited pic. People need to keep in mind that it probably has a lot of idle and gas stomping time on it and less than 200 miles.

Towed 8k miles last year and averaged just over 11.5mpg, it’s actually not too bad.
Just about to set off on another 5k mile trip to the east coast, I should get better mpg as there’s no mountains :)

Would love to be doing this trip with that new gen4 engine for sure though.

11.5 is about what I get too unless I am towing my tractor and get slightly better. No mountains, just Appalachian foothills for the most part for me though.

15.8 mpg... sounds right on track with my 96, my 02, my 03, and my 20... Almost 30 years and they still can't squeeze out better MPG.

    Hopefully this thing is reliable.

Coming through that way in a couple of weeks, cutting across from Cleveland TN to Anderson SC. Flat ground I usually get closer to 13. It'll be interesting to see if the torque converter locks up 3rd gear in the 4th gen. That and low down power would be awesome!

They’ll say there’s a supply chain issue reliability

With as many platforms they’re putting the drivetrain in, I’d hope it is or they’re in some trouble.

Was checking out some pics of a facotory lifted sr5 posted on the Tacoma4g site, pretty neat that the steering rod end and the cv boot has been changed (and the LCA looks beefier). upload_2023-10-5_14-34-30.jpg

Actually installed the protection kit for my 2020, I can wipe with near anything and it's crystal.

Did you install said kit over existing scratches?
