All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
This is part 3, the 1st one was sweet too. The 2nd one got all artsy, and touched was a bit much.

The guy has serious chops offroad. Taking trials skills to the big bikes.

I saw a funny video of of the differences between what you see on promos and the reality for the majority of adventure riders.
    I will look for it.

My riding partner is a bit of a nut. It’s always entertaining to watch him jumping of big logs…it’s either going well or south…very south :)

    I should make shirts

When I was younger, wrecking didn't bother me(I was also more nimble and in much better shape ). At 44, I know I won't heal as quickly  I just have to live vicariously through the YT vids lying to myself that "I could do that"

I'm not a lot younger than you, and in terrible shape. I'm okay with old man adrenaline of just slow cruising on a bike.

I still have the urge to do stupid things, but I always get pulled back into reality when the thought of being out of work hits :D

Yup. Gotta go to work to pay the bills. I do have a massive amount of sick pay that I would use if I got hurt, but it'd all go to hospital bills because my insurance is crap.

Submitted all my info for yesterday's ride to the IBA! It's a lot of information but a lot faster than the first time, at least.

IBR. Rules permit auxiliary fuel but total capacity can not exceed 11.5 gallons and they will verify with a pre rally tech inspection. Must have a vent, proper cap, and be mounted securely. If you're over they will make you add something in the cell to displace volume to get to 11.5 or less. One rider was made to put 6 feet of heavy steel chain in his fuel cell.

I meant to post in here, forgot to.

Buddy who bought that 04 ninja from me swung by yesterday to replace the fork oil, since it was bottoming out way too easily. As we pulled it into the garage, I hit the front brake and felt the whole fork assembly shift under the bike. Some more investigation revealed that the triple tree bolt had come loose, the spanner nut for the stem had come loose, and the pinch bolts on the fork tubes weren't tight. This caused the entire upper triple tree to be pushed 3/4 of the way off the forks, nearly falling off in our hands. It also caused an 1/8" or so of back and forth play in the bearings for the neck. When we started disassembly to address all this, the plugs in the top of each fork tube shot out, as the inner retaining clips were missing. So somebody had definitely been there before, and either didn't know what they were doing, or were just negligent in putting it together. My buddy put 1200 miles on it in a month before we caught this issue last night.

After we got the forks off, we started taking the triple tree off to check everything out, and lost all the ball bearings (not caged) out of the bottom of the head stock. Cue the second 06 ninja I have to the rescue! It's pretty much guaranteed to only be a parts bike at this point, so we started robbing bearings and parts off the forks from that bike to get his back together.

I don't have a lift table or motorcycle Jack, so to keep the front of each bike up while we took them apart, we moved my riding mower into position and strapped them to the front end. They're both sitting on their center stands, held in the "minor wheelie" position by a ratchet strap each. The things you do for friends.... we got to 9pm last night before throwing in the towel and I gave him a ride home. Going to tackle the reassembly this weekend.
