I hope you at least ‘broke wind’ while walking away. I never really got this ignorance angle from sales people. If I worked for Milwaukee I would know all the latest information or at least have reference material.

WTF is right, I am baffled why HD recommended that for me. I didn't check the average price of the individual batteries and chargers but I feel like its a pretty good deal.

We have those at work. 4 banks of six with 12Ah batteries. And 6 of the 18v light towers, for outages and changeovers. Pretty handy to have over all the extension cords.

Thats awesome, it makes sense for medium to big construction companies to own set ups like that but its just staggering me picturing that. Please post a picture of that setup if you get a chance.

ideally, i was planning on getting the 3-by-3 18v/12v combo charger. until i met a guy that's been through 3 of them in 2 years... hard to justify that kind of reliability when they give out the single 12/18 charger like party favors.

early in the history of packout stuff, when it was just a storage solution without any compatible power adapter stuff, there was a guy that re-did a packout container with the guts of 4 separate chargers. honestly, liked the idea better, as it would be an 8-battery flip-flop charger, instead of the sequential-6 the official chargers offer.

looking through that link, it looks like some of the forge battery tech is just starting to be displayed. last i heard, they hadn't issued prices. the kit seems really steep at $450 for 1 battery and a dual-port charger, but the batteries by themselves at $200/ea don't seem too bad at all if they're supposed to be equal to the 12.0's... that's assuming the capacity/power/reliability is up to par.

one day in, i'm really happy with the fan.

it's brushless while the milwaukee is a brushed motor. but then this fan is a few inches smaller in diameter than the milwaukee, and has slightly less of a blade pitch to make the fan cage a thinner profile. it still throws air quite well, better than expected. if noise is a consideration (not at all for me), it's quieter than the milwaukee on all modes.

the milwaukee is a great 'thrower fan' meaning you can easily set it up in a doorway to a bedroom, and on '2', can feel airflow on the other side of the room. i used to use it constantly for creating some sort of airflow during attic work. this fan throws air pretty well-- about 70% as well as the milwaukee does. if i modded 2 of them together, it would likely equal the milwaukee fan for flow(i'm thinking for the price, i'm going to attack this later on by buying an additional 2 fans)...

my biggest consideration was the overall footprint, and it fits that perfectly. the upper plastic grille construction is rigid enough a fool like me can't push the guard into fan blades to make fun childish noises like a normal cheap fan, and the top part is light enough that the xc4.0 i ran on it today was more than heavy enough to offer a great base in a number of different locations without it being unstable. all the pivots also seem to have great tolerances, they all move smoothly, none exhibit any sort of looseness/tightness in any part of the motion from end-stop to end-stop. there were a few positions i had it today where i laid it sideways, and the pivots all held position wherever i positioned it without a problem.

at 1/4 the price, i'd still rate it at being at least 75% as good in performance as my m18 milwaukee fan that sells for $100. one of the advantages of the milwaukee is going to be that it can be wall outlet powered, if you're near power--it includes the power adapter out of the box(i couldn't tell you where my power adapter went, this isn't a feature i desired or would've paid extra for if i had the option). but a significant advantage to the knock-off fan is that it doubles as a usb charger, which i will likely end up using from time to time. the milwaukee definitely has a more intuitive and capable knob to set the fan speed, which can even be done with welding gloves on, would count as a point for the milwaukee. the knock-off has a tiny little rocker on/off switch, and a push button for 'off/1/2/3' speeds, but no visual indicator for the mode selected. a white light comes on when modes 1, 2, or 3 are selected, but there's no further indication to which speed is running other than just cycling through them all.

I wasn't impressed with the Milwaukee fan; I never owned one but I got to borrow it a few times when I worked as a fabricator.

We all had our own stations so our own tools and stuff.

Needed a fan as airflow was minimal at best being in the center of said warehouse and I opted for the HF Hercules model as a plug-in.

Hell, I still use it now even as it pushes plenty of air and was super cheap with a coupon. Last time was just earlier today when I was welding in the garage.

got my bug zapper in today.. it's nicely built, with glass tubes encapsulating the uv led strips, a clean-out tray, and a free 18v power adapter to use it without a battery.

problem is a glass tube arrived broken because there's no vibration dampening within the tubes as a cost cutting measure. so getting a replacement..

Was going to ask, do all the UV lights turn on?

Some report a strip of lights not working at all.

i didn't bother even trying it. the led circuit board moves too much, and easily caused to glass to break further. i re-boxed it for the return to minimize the spread of glass in my kitchen.

maybe i'll hold onto it until i get the replacement, and use it for parts if one is bad...

I bought those batteries a while ago but ended up returning them because they are too wide so they don't fit drills or impact drivers/wrenches if you have the belt clip attached. Should be fine for any tools that don't have a belt clip.
