Meh, its not that bad really. The truck has a pair of jack stands under the frame holding the weight of the truck. The jacks and board are supporting the axle and holding position while working on that leaf spring.
Are there better ways, totally. But in terms of sketch, as long as you arent under the axle when a jack slips this whole thing is fine. They should have just left one side attached to the axle while working on the other side spring.

Right on, new axle for the Suburban, 1" block and a shim.

 

i'm impressed they had 3 jacks. i'd have to do it with 1 jack and 6 jack stands.

I could've owned 2 Tacoma's for the amount I have dumped into this to keep it running. Just did a 4l80e with USShift electronic controller, doing a SAS with a Dana 60 next. It's just a tow rig and works great for what I need.

 

Remember when carmakers could put the fuel tank behind the axle without being sued or recalled to death?

 

I remember when pick ups and other light duty trucks had the gas tank behind the seat. Then they went to saddle tanks under the cab, which ironically caused more leaks.

 

Looks Like a Rube Goldberg machine that's going to end very poorly for the taco

 

Dana 60, rebuilt and setting it up.
Went with ORD and WFO SAS parts.
Still lots more to do.

The Suburban looks fine. I think he's referring to the trailer house in the picture with no supports. Very dangerous.

 

Oh, that's my camper, it's got 3 supports to stabilize it. It's my base camp, all the comforts of home, and light enough to pass 18 wheelers when needed. I can tow at 70 to 75 mph all day with no problems. Works great.
