Is $26k too much for a 2017 with 120k?

Hi guys, I’m looking to buy a new truck as I just sold my old Silverado. I want a Tacoma but some of them are outrageously expensive. I’ve been looking at a 2017 tacoma limited. I don’t off-road and don’t plan to so I don’t care about 4wheel drive. It has 120k miles and the people want $25,998 for it. I know Toyota's can easily pass that, but is basically 26000 too much for a truck like this.

    I only paid around $4K more than that when I bought my 2018 new. It's a V6 4x4.

Seems high. I would expect that amount for my 2018 Sport, that has more features than the 2017 models, and half the miles.

    Sounds high.
    Welcome!

It shouldn’t at this point, but prices still blow me away! I know it’s no longer relevant, but to think I bought a brand new OR 4x4 V6 w options for what people are having to pay for much older, less optioned, high mileage trucks is nuts. But in the end,,, we don’t set the price, the market does.

That’s too much for me to pay.
Should you go look at it.
Check the front timing cover for leaks.
It’s fairly common on the early models to leak.
It a BIG job, and it’s expensive.

Agree, sounds high but all used vehicle prices are outrageous these days.
I paid $27500 for my '17 TRD OR DC w 40Kmi in Jan of '20.

I paid $27K for my 2019 SR back in 2019. But unless you have a Time Machine, that is completely irrelevant. CoVid really messed things up. Supply side inflation, demand side inflation, every side inflation…. comparing thing to “I bought mine for X” really doesn’t mean anything. Is it too much? Depends. Check the market. They say my house is worth over 3X what I bought it for 15 years ago, which to me is ridiculous, but it’s worth what the market says it worth. So if you happen to come across that Time Machine, I’d go further back than pre-CoVid to 2008 and invest in real estate….

Can you find a 2016 or newer Limited for $20,000 that is not a salvage title?

    A quick search nationwide of Limited 4x4's shows the 2 cheapest being a 2016 with 161k for $23,100 and a 2016 with 101k for $24,500.

If it were posted for sale on TW, it would probably be $30k or more.

Only way I'd pay that much for a 6+ year old truck if it was mint, and had under 30k.

    Hell no.

I just looked at the local Toyota's website, they have 46 Tacoma's on the lot. $41K sticker price is the most expensive one they have for a new truck. Some of the basic trucks with stickers in the low $30's. I want 4x4 personally but have no use for paying $10K-$15K more for the expensive trim packages. Just more stuff to tear up and when it has 200,000 miles on it they don't sell for any more than a basic truck with the same miles.

I know most places haven't come off sticker price for a while, but with a brand new 2024 coming out soon you should be able to get a deal on a 2023.
