GMRS master race, or FRS. There's still a few CB hold outs, but almost everyone has transitioned to digital

Rain is common, that first year was cold. Also why we don't use the pavilion...

Yeah, at offroad parks and down south/west there are more CB users than in general. CB is a pain, GMRS/FRS is so easy to set up. I used CB on a cross country trip, and got next to no benefit from it.

FRS is no license needed, lower power (family radio service). Limit is 0.5W. GMRS you need a license for, same channels, but the power is a lot more. Depending on the channel, up to 50W.

You won't get 50W unless you do a dash mount, any handheld will top out around 5-8W, regardless of how much power you CAN have on those channels. Just get the handhelds, especially if it's "just" for AOAA, you won't need the capability to throw your transmissions as far as I can :)

I'd recommend something with a USB charger to it. But that's because I just hate dealing with batteries, your truck can charge it while it's running if it has a USB charge option to it. Worth noting, I HAVE a dash mount, and still bring my handheld - I can use it outside of the truck/when the truck's off.

I need to get my dash mounted radio working, it's either an antenna issue or a rf wiring issue.

Your transmissions come across with a lot of static. Switch to your handheld and its clear as day. Other than grounding, I wouldn't know where to start.

Waiting on studs for my rear diff. A couple stripped during disassembly when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with the truck. Called the company as it's been well over 2 weeks since I got shipping notification. Lost in transit :facepalm:Theyre sending out another set. Hoping the new set gets here in time

I'ma go with antenna if the TX is the issue. Usually you'd hear issues if it was the wiring. I can take a look at it, I'm FAR from an expert but I can give a second set of eyes on it. Whatcha got for a radio and antenna setup?

    How is it wired?

What @Redmann said: it's putting out 25 watts and has less range than an 1/2 watt hand held.

Radio is mounted to the center console, dedicated hard wire to the battery, coax throu the firewall to the antenna 16966062164308116964585525908918.jpg
    And the mount is grounded

Got a picture of the radio as mounted? I would see if you can find a new antenna cable, run it direct from the antenna mount to the radio, through the open door, and see how that works.

I might have another antenna we can hook up, too. I'm wondering if your cable is pinched somewhere, antenna cables don't like sharp bends/pinching.

I'll take a spot for Friday and Saturday unless I already told someone I would slit a site with them. I need to check my posts in this thread

If you want site 155, it can be yours! Here's the confirmation and the cost. I'm not looking to make money on the site. I reserve them so we can all be in the same area.

I'll do zelle, cashapp, cash in hand, or PayPal if we must.
