Bumped into this old miner's cabin in pretty good shape in the Sequoia NF.

Unfortunately the nearby adit was blocked off to humans thanks to the Forest Service. According to the Mineral Resources Data System they were looking for asbestos.

Found these about 200 yards apart in alpine meadows about 7500 ft. elevation in a National Forest, Montana.

People burying their horses out in the middle of nowhere? Any ideas?

I would guess someone’s ashes were spread around there. I find a lot of memorials and markers too, usually take a second to tidy up if there are flowers or anything loose that’s been blown away.

I hope these things don't get to be a thing...

I'm about done with all the memorials spread everywhere you look. The one that finally got me to realize how many there are, and how meaningless they all are, is that one where they dedicated a statue to the fan that fell from the stands and died.

    https://www.nydailynews.com/2012/04...-his-death-trying-to-catch-ball-over-railing/

I really don't need to see welded horse shoes all over the mountains when I go for a hike.

Man, if I didn't dislike baseball already, that'd really make me grow up hating it to have that happen.

Leave it better. Pick up any trash you see. I picked up a ton at Windrock when we were out wheeling. Come on people, not hard to pack out what you pack in.

my fishing pet peeve is when i find stray line just laying around or snagged up somewhere. birds can get caught in it or animals can eat it accidentally while grazing. i always make sure to pick it up and pocket it until i can either burn it at camp or trash it.

Yeah, the crap in the water is really frustrating. Bobbers, line, hooks, ruined a set of waders once. Some of it is inevitable, but clean up after yourself!
