Started having issues a few months ago with refueling. Pump constantly clicks off and it takes a ridiculous amount of time to refuel. Usually after I get 5-6 gallons in, it cooperates a little better and I’m able to fill up until it clicks. Today was, by far, the worse it’s been.
Took over 5 minutes to get 1 gallon in.
I’ve never over filled since I’ve owned it. Always stopped once it clicked. I do live on dusty roads and I believe that can clog evap canisters?
Any ideas if this is the cause and how to replace if so?
    Thanks

I'm not sure if this applies to the Tacoma, but I know the Prius had a vapor recovery check valve on the filler neck that would fail and cause this exact issue. May well be something similar here too.

ugh, this is PITA, I had a truck that did this!
just a shot in the dark, but did this by chance start if/when they did a fuel pump recall? I tend to look first, at what was touched last. Probably a long shot, as if it needed it, you would have already done the recall long ago.

+1 on a check valve in the EVAP system not allowing enough air exchange.

    No work done previously.
Anyone know how to access this check valve in the EVAP system?

    It's a vent problem.

    Shit that sucks!
If it isn’t bad enough spending 70$ to fill up! Having to fight to do it as well?
I got no help sorry. My 18 sucks it down with no gagging.

Damn 91 octane tune... first time in my life the fuel pump shut off at $100 (not because it was full).

I use 91 in my mower/snowblower yea it’s expensive. I use 87 in the truck and need to fill in my mind at about 1/4 tank.
I’ve seen my low fuel light a few times but avg 70$ a week.
I’d crap myself if I saw 100$ on the pump!

    Likely is.
There’s a refueling valve (vent) in the canister that allows vapor and pressure in the fuel tank out while refueling.

It can get get stuck closed (in the purge position) and cause refueling issues.

Do you know where this canister is located?

Your snowblower gets 91?! My Honda HSS928 gets 89 and if it's not happy about it it's welcome to die and get replaced by an Ego electric.

The only thing that gets 91 is my Volvo SUV and my Ski Doo.

It is under the bed of the truck.
The lines and connectors can be a bear to get off sometimes.

My closest gas station has non-ethanol but it’s 91. I did use stable but ran out and just get this cause it’s easy!
Maybe 89 I’ll have to look.

Yea, probably ethanol free, much better for small engines and equipment where gas is sitting for a while

The vent valve back by the canister should be open all the time until commanded to close. You could remove the plastic hose going from the top of the fuel tank to the canister and try to blow through it. If it's clogged it may have a saturated canister or a blockage in the vent path

A few weeks back didn't @Bishop84 mention a check valve in the filler neck that can get damaged if a gas thief tries to shove a siphon hose down there?
