For those of you who have had your grill professionally painted, how much were you charged?

I just dropped mine off with my buddy and I want to pay him a fair price.

    Thanks

Did you prep it for him and buy the materials or his he doing everything, all-in? If you prepped it and bought materials, I'd toss him $50-100 for his time and bring pizza and beer. If he's doing it all, ask him what the materials cost and figure it'll take him a few hours minimum to prep, prime and paint. He may have to buy a minimum amount of paint just for your grille. I'd guess around $150 for materials and time, painting isn't cheap or easy.

Just handed it to him, no prep. He's been kinda slow so I figured I would help him out a little. I know when I go to get it he will probably be like "Eh, fifty bucks" that's why I wanted to get an idea of how much people were really getting charged.
I took another friend to him to get some stuff done and I thought he charged him too little and I don't want to feel like I ripped him off in anyway. I'm all for the buddy discount but the guy does top notch work and I would rather be fair about it.
I was guessing 150 as well.

Well, got it back today! Looks 1000x better than the stock chrome one in my opinion.
Had him do it a little different and color match the center part too.
He told me 100 and I gave him 150 and told him to shut up.
Thanks again to you all who replied.

Thanks! I gotta show it some love this weekend. It took a beating two weeks ago so I gotta touch it up.

Much appreciated fellas. I wish I would have waited and cleaned her up a bit better if I knew it was going to get all this attention ;)

So you opted to repaint the stock chrome grille instead of buying an aftermarket grille to paint, I'm thinking...did your buddy have any issues with painting over the chrome vs. painting a non-chrome grille? I've wanted to do this for a while, and am still on the fence about which way to go...thanks.

Just picked mine up from the paint shop yesterday! I gave it to him one week ago and he said it would be done in two days. I called him in two days and he said it would be done the next day and I could pick it up. Well I went to pick it up and it wasn't done, so he told me another day and when I went back that day it still wasn't done. He called me yesterday and said it was done, so I went to pick it up and he said it was on him and gave it to me for free. I tried to pay him anyway and he refused. So my grill was a really good deal, just took a few days longer than it should have. Here it is!
