Not fully sure as of yet. @AllTacosFloat was talking to me about 2k clear but I still did not find any video or walk throughs on what or how to protect your shocks. I must be missing something because I hear about people doing it all of the time. Honestly, just another reason why I miss @unchained5150. Detailing was his passion. I first heard that FOX was cerakoting all of their shocks but mine specifically were Type III anodized (hard coating). I still want to clear coat them, but I just want to make sure that I am doing it right. I am also going to get some of those ICON shock covers (unfortunately they say icon on them and nobody else really makes them) and they are made out of Neoprene so I am assuming that that is going to help against the New England Corrosive winters.

Does anyone have a link to a thread, a video, or a "how to" to clear coat and protect coilovers correctly?

So I heard from my insurance. She stated the same as me and accepted fault so that’s reassuring.
Definitely have heard crazy stories of people changing their statements after leaving the scene.

I think I have a code reader in my toolbox, if I can’t find it I may have to take you up on that @GarlicFarts

the BSM one I believe is about 1k not sure on the parking one

I've heard mixed advice on the neoprene. Some say it just holds the brine.

I've been thinking it might be best to hit them with cosmoline or amsoil hdmp once or twice a year. I know the HDMP works and is super tenacious, I use it on lines and hardware on the undercarriage where WoolWax doesn't get sprayed and that shit STAYS.

I wouldn't run the covers, they trap stuff in and make stuff worse in the long run. You can scuff them with some scotch Brite and clear them, you can also use cosmoline coating. Cosmoline is often used on equipment and machines to keep from rusting while being transported, even across sea

Not sure if a code reader will be able to read that module or not but I have a scan tool if needed as well

I clear coated my Bilstein 8112s and 5125s before I installed them (since Bilstein only zinc plates the shock bodies). Reassembling the coilover was not very fun after painting, since I didn't want to scratch it with the spring or the spring compressor. And after I had everything assembled and set to the correct ride height, I coated the coilover with CRC heavy duty corrosion inhibitor (Cosmoline, but I was able to find it in a store) and the rear shock with WoolWax. I would recommend a Cosmoline type product if you don't want too much road debris to stick the coilover.

I'll make my usual everyone needs a dashcam statement. Even only one pointing forward will prove you weren't moving and got rear ended.

Oh yeah I got a fitcamX, good point. Glad there wasn’t a need for it but yeah I definitely would’ve been saved that way

+1. I haven't checked if my rear even sees anything worthwhile with the bars on now.
