Gen 1 fender bulges are more pronounced then Gen 2. I would give the Gen 2 the timeless clean looks award.

I think all the tech should be standard on every car. Why does an $800 cell phone have more tech than a $50,000 vehicle. Navigation, car play, etc should be standard. There’s pretty much a damn tablet glued to the dashboard. Use it.

Profit margins on cell phones are likely way higher. Apple sold 240 million phones in 2021. Toyota sold less than 10 million vehicles. The phones are all pretty much the same. Each model vehicle is different and has to be NHTSA tested.

Mods are currently being changed .....
Thats exactly why it's not standard. They know (almost) everyone can't live without it any more, so they know they can charge for it.

I would also say that the cost to develop and test something like SafetySense dwarfs the cost of any iphone feature.

Cars/trucks are more expensive because we want/demand more expensive (feature laden) cars/trucks. You can't blame the manufactures for that.

Then there’s the 4Runner that has none of that stuff (except limited) and the price has still gone way up. o_O

"For the 2022 Toyota 4Runner, every trim level standardizes what was once extra-cost safety tech. The update includes the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Automatic High Beams, High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with the Sway Warning System."

My 2014 Trail Edition doesn't have any of that stuff.

They spew stuff without knowing the details and pass it off as facts.

Toyota even removed the new TRD wheels that were introduced in 21 on the 23 in that link. I wonder what happened? I'm sure Toyota could get wheels manufactured if they wanted to. I wondercif they do not properly fit the 4R like they don't fit the Tacoma? Maybe Toyota does not want to produce new wheels for an out going platform?

Yes. My phone was $50 and it does everything I need it to. I will never lease or rent such an item. I use it for all things internet, photos, videos, checking my kids school grades, music, Android Auto, alarm clock, Calculator, paying bills, yadda yadda yadda.... my phone is like my truck... it's basically an SR model. It does what I need it to do and when it breaks I will repair or replace it.

Uhhhhhggggg. The shape of the lights and grille look pretty neat to me. They really didn't do a wonderful job below that. The 3rd gen front end is too big as it is, they just trended upwards from that. The flares are a little too gawdy to me too.

It'll take some time and seeing a few modded units and these will start to grow on me. Just not enough to get rid of what I have now.

Phone fell out of pocket while mowing on Zero turn mower. Went thru pulleys got stuck, there was a small battery fire but did not crack screen. That is why I have free phones hahaha20200204_161518.jpg
