I’ve got a GFC on my DCLB OR and upgraded the suspension to Icon Stage 3 Leafs with Bilstein 5160/6112. I’ve been designing a kitchen slide and calculated out the weight using 3/4” plywood and it comes out to 150lbs. With the GFC on it I’ve already got ~270lbs on it. Would that end up being too much?

GFC weighs 270. Your contraption weighs 150. Two people weigh 350. That's 770. A few suitcases will put you over the limit.
No matter what you upgrade and beef up, your max load rating does not go up with it.
Holy shit I just checked the price of a GFC. That thing costs $30 a pound! Holy fuck. A 4x8 sheet of 6061 aluminum coats $60 and there is maybe three sheets to a GFC. That dude is making bank. $8K for that? No fucking way.

    What is a GFC?

Are you saying your kitchen table in your pickup camper weighs 150lbs? Jeeze Louise. That’s as much as my steel rock sliders. I suggest you go with something lighter.

In any case, only you can answer your question. It’s a personal choice.

When you look at the costs for a good topper and a rooftop tent the price doesn’t seem so extreme. Factor in the huge amount of space gained by combining them into one unit and it’s more than worth it if you wanted a topper and a tent in the first place.

Understood. Best topper I see here? The Terminix SR pickups with the utility fiberglass toppers with the doors on the sides. Looks good and efficient. $2K. Add a RTT for $3G and save.
