Try it with a bit of ice or water. Game changer.

Well, I usually don’t try ice/water with my pours, but this definitely made a difference for the good! Thank you for the suggestion. It makes this such a great pour! I’ve been missing out!

Part of the reason I did the comparison was your suggestion when you made the chicken delivery to my house :). Now I need to go gold vs SFTB

Yeah, agreed. We also messed up and did the bookers comparison first so not only did the gold win but the regular kind of tasted like fruity water

Oh yeah, you gotta go low proof to high. It’s like cheese tasting, can’t start with the pungent stuff.

We got excited. lol. I'd ordered a bookers at dinner the other night and it was so good I HAD to have a bottle of it, tried to ask the bartender which batch it was but they were slammed so I didn't get a chance to. My buddy and I had been sitting on these two bottles for a couple months to find time to do this comparison so the second he got here I was like ok crack em!

I'm happy to report that my bottle was the same one from the restaurant. It's an export batch, 2022-01E but based on proof I think it's the "Ronnie's Batch"

Picked up the latest Booker’s batch yesterday, which encouraged me to get back into a neglected half-finished batch from last year. As I started sipping this I read through the description of 2023-03 and was interested to see the comment about the first batch for which Booker’s son selected the barrels. As I was trying to figure out which batch this was and if any bottles still exist, I ran across a special edition batch in Booker’s memory. Same batch perhaps, or the very next batch. There’s some really neat generational family history involved, reminds me of the Russells at Wild Turkey. And to some degree the Van Winkles. But then realism sets in that these families only operate the distilleries (or certain product lines), they’re owned by larger parent organizations that have no familial bourbon distillery lineage. I digress, but it’s a bit of a sad thought.

Trivia question: when was the first batch of Booker’s bottled?

Crown royal or crown peach mixed with raspberry pureleaf. Or chilled and shots. The 2nd gets you there much much faster.

Haha and the small batch letters seem to be faded a lot. Rye is quite bold
