Sorry didn’t realize they added safety sense to the other models. What else changed other than that and a start button? The price difference is around $7-8K more than my 2017. What a bargain.

Limited’s not my first choice but throw a coat of MGM w Nightshade pkg on this one, slap some hickory leather on the seats, and it’s pretty decent.

Car play/aa, a few other options but the 4 runner has always had better options per trim vs the tacoma. Part of why 4 runner has always cost more than tacoma comparing like trims.

4G Tacoma leaves the 4R obsolete in the features department and the LC 250 looks cooler. Still not convinced there will be a 6G 4Runner. NA with no hybrid assist, and an optional manual transfer case is the 5G 4Runner biggest selling point.

Mirror caps, front bumper and possibly door handles exceed my chrome content, but even the grille looks tastefully done. By chrome standards anyways.

I like the Ice Cap myself though. Helps tone down the Chrome IMO. Ice cap w/ nightshade would be fairly dope.

Called the two local Toyota dealers here and my POCs, the one less sketchy one isnt taking deposits until pricing is announced and allocations, but I am first on some supposed list for a deposit / allocation on a TRD PRO besides white. The other dealer wanted a $3k deposit upfront today, non refundable, I said I'll pass and take my business elsewhere.

inflation changed. $40k in jan 2017 is worth the same as $50,500 today. they didn’t add much cost, your dollar lost value

So I'll give you $40,000 from 2017 in exchange for $50,500 2023? Just because the dollar has lost value that does not make the old money worth more today.

The problem is that you can't go back to 2017. I see this argument a lot, not surprisingly when it surrounds used vehicle costs. And I see it a lot on the porsche forums that I'm on. The argument basically being that b/c of price increases, used vehicles are also jumping in price consistent w/ what the new ones are. I can see the point of theirr argument. And their point is...yes, old money IS worth more today.

I bought my wife’s 4runner from High Country Toyota in Scottsboro. Super easy purchase. Obviously I wasn’t buying, or getting in line for, a new unreleased model vehicle, but a dealer I’d reach out to again for a future purchase.

That’s literally what an inflation-indexed bond is, yes. So you can do exactly that.

it makes similar products more expensive in nominal terms. The old money isn’t worth more today, the same $40k is worth LESS

Where we got my wife’s Rav4 hybrid in 2021, agree was a good process.

Yup if you invested that 40k on real estate in 2017, and sold that real estate for 4X the value in 2023 what ever profit you made would be worth less dollar for dollar adjusted for inflation. Dollar value has no bearing on the price of a vehicle.

Well the math would be that although you made 300% profit in nominal terms, real profit would be reduced by about 25%.

So yes, that nominal profit would be “worth less” in real terms. Inflation absolutely affects the price of a vehicle. It’s a large part of why a 67 camaro was $2200 and a modern camaro is $30k

I mean none of it matters because it still comes with a 1999 interior for an adjusted 2024 price.

What are you even talking about? If someone doesn’t pay it, the market adjusts downward. That doesn’t mean inflation didn’t affect the pricing.

The roof over the rear of the truck probably has a big play in the cost too. :D
