I installed a high amperage alternator from LC Engineering about three thousand miles ago.

I also replaced my battery cables around that time including the cable which connect the starter, alternator, and fuse box.

Last night, the battery light began flickering, and the voltage meter fluctuates wildly but is especially low at idle (600-800 RPM) but normal after RPM’s rise (> 800 RPM).

I just replaced the battery; however, the above issue persists.

Immediately after turning over the truck with the brand new battery - the voltage reading was already low (between 12.5 volts and 13; however, it rises and falls).

I also observed that the load test from the battery cable terminals differed significantly from the battery terminals.

I am supposed to go on an hour long drive tomorrow. Please help, friends.

I would start by contacting LCE.

The battery light doesn’t have anything to do with the battery.
The battery light is actually for alternator. The alternator turns the battery light on and off.
If the alternator is charging or isn’t charging at a high enough voltage, it turns the light on.

    The real “battery” light isn’t a light. It’s a no crank. ;)

    I am aware of that.

It was a loose alternator cable connection.

Excuse me while I scream into a pillow.
