I would order frame reinforcement plates and weld them over the outside. Probably add some angle to connect the inner channel of the frame but not box it to limit water trapping

Bed on a Taco was surprisingly lighter than I thought, and the fuel tank was pretty easy to yank out

I’m not sure what exactly you mean by adding “angle” to the inner frame

Well, 1st and 3rd pic are useless as to what you're trying to get done.

2nd pic is too close up, what part of the frame is that exactly?

Wire wheel a shit ton in that general area, knock off whatever is rust, clean up whatever is actual metal, and weld reinforcement over it tying it into the frame.

 

Looking closer, that's where your gas tank strap bolts in right?

I'd hit that bracket and see if it's loose or if the surrounding metal is still good.

If it's loose, cut it off and make a new one as it's just flat stock bent 4 different ways.

 

Or would you saying buying the L shaped ones from safe t cap better?

 

Safe T caps replace (and reinforce), the above plates reinforce

nah I mean I would probably use some angle iron to reinforce the inside of the frame and build gas tank mount

Why were you taking a bed off? Honestly a bed can be removed and reinstalled by one person if you take your time they Don't weigh much at all.

Buddy is doing a 63 leaf spring swap, welding in new leaf spring perches, redoing all underbed wiring, pulled the gas tank for a gas tank relocation, and more.

I'll check tomorrow but, my MIL brought that box with an old EGR valve in it

Inside that box was also a receipt for one purchased 12/26/2022 meaning he already got one meaning it's already installed, or at their house somewhere

Will find out tomorrow
