How many v6 taco’s hit 500,000 miles ?

I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma V6 4 x 4. I got it with 39 miles on it and I just hit 450,000 miles. Only major thing I’ve had to do is a power steering rack well and maintenance but I’ve also overloaded it more than once. I’ve snapped the rear leaf springs twice, and then they got recalled so I got a new pair for free. She’s been very good to me. I’m curious how many other 4.0L V6’s have hit over 500,000 miles?

This is the closest one I’ve read about here on TW…I don’t think that million mile guy had a V6 and I know he swapped engines at least once.

No timing belt, fuel pump or even water pump ?

 

There’s only one v6 1gr Tacoma or 4Runner wise that I found on the internet with a documented 500k the gentleman here on tacomaworld lives in Bakersfield and he had 5 or 600k miles and sold it and said the guy he sold it to was still driving around.

congrats yours is the 2nd highest one I’ve read about. I’m sure there’s others out there but after years searching the Tacoma and 4Runner forums you two are the highest mileage 1gr v6 posted

 

Don't see many Tacos out there with super high miles, there was a 600k and 800k 4th gen 4Runner 4.0 I remember from another group just not which one. T4r, IH8Mud, TN

not a second gen but my first gen 02 has 533,168 as of the ride to work this morning

 

These days, making a vehicle last that long means not being a magnet for other idiots on the road.

This is the truth. My biggest concern for killing my Tacoma is a dumbass crashing into me. Not the long term mechanical reliability.

 

5VZ or the 4 cylinder? My brother's 3rd gen 4R went over 400k before the rust got it, but the engine still ran fine.

 

My 88 rotted bed and bumpers at 11 years, ran well at 180k 4cyl
My 99 frame rotted and got warranty ran well with 185k 4cyl

I'm at 261k on the engine, manual transmission and original clutch... but the frame was replaced in 2018 along with free leaf springs and i've since swapped out a lot of other things too like; suspension, CVs, all wheel bearings, rotors, breaks, FJ manual T-case, body painted....
