Got it done tonight! Big doe down, she saw me in ladder stand, took off into trees about 20yds, then kinda snuck back in. Just for a shot. A little high but hit lung and clipped liver...she went maybe 20-30yds.

    lol lol

Yesterday morning was as bust. Rained the entire time and warm, close to 70 degrees. All in all, pretty miserable. The afternoon however, was different. Skies cleared, breezy, sunny and about 60 degrees. This stand is placed in a maple tree. There are several black oak and one white oak, that were dropping mast. Trail camera pics had the deer showing up around 4pm. Around 4pm I spot one doe about 50 yards offf to my right, she cut across behind me and not sure where she got to after that. I like the location of this stand but the lack of cover on my right bugs me. Around 445pm, I noticed a buck coming from behind, about 35 yards off to my right. He's walking on a lil grassy road. He stops right on the opeing where I walk in. I had ranged that area earlier and it was 35 yards. Decided to wait and see what he does. He turns and walks straight to me. Stops literally under my stand. Turns and walks straight away. Stops about 10-13 yards out offering a hard quartering away. The shot hit high, very high. But still it looked good. I watched him bolt off. Waiting for him to drop...and waiting...and listening for the crash. Nothing. Wait a full 15 minutes and get down. No arrow at the impact. Circle over to where he ran, there's blood. Not great, by decent. Wait a bit more, gather my stuff up. Fired up Gaia mapping and got started. about 40 yards into the trail is my arrow. Blood soaked but some tallow on it. The blood trail starts to get heavy, the just small spots. 100 yards in I am starting to get worried. 200 yards, same thing. He crosses a logging road that has a fair amount of cuttings in it. Now the trail gets heavier and he starts to avoid going over obstructions. The trail stops cold, he back tracked about twenty yards and is heading downhill. Big puddles of blood with bubbles. Another forty yards there he lays. GPS showed he covered close to 350 yards. I completely missed the onside lung and only hit the opposite lung. It bisected the lung almost from top to bottom.

As I found him. Exit is right under my sight guard.
