The coolest thing about box turtles, at least in my opinion, is the hinged lower shell that allows them to totally enclose themselves as a defense against predators!

 

This one is a bit more social...

 

This one is a baby, but has the hinged shell as you can see...

 

It would appear that hatchling/newborn box turtles do not have the hinged shell...

@Stitchgirl90 is renting a room in an old woman's house. That house built in 1958. The standard model of this plan came with the garage sort of integrated into the house directly beneath the bedroom. For an extra cost, it was possible to get a recreation room in place of the standard garage and a 1-car garage built onto the side of the house, which this one has; I decided to back my truck up to the garage just to give everybody an idea of how small it is. I believe that my truck would fit, but the mirrors would have to be folded in...

 

I hate small garages. Need a 8 car garage in my life at some point lol

 

50 isn’t that old. You got a long time before you inherit that thing.
Depending on what type tortoise it is, you might want to reconsider.
Some get really BIG and live a long time.
